Description:

This is an "experimental" swap to see how many of you are interested in pushing the boundaries with our sticker stash! LOL!

Stickers are often given a "bad rep" here and I see a lot of swaps that frown upon art that's been sticker "slapped."

But I'm of a different mindset!

Being a kid during the 80's I learned to appreciate and use stickers and sticker books quite often. I still have a sticker graffiti'd container where the family stores all of our receipts, and my son's entire bedroom door has been sticker "slapped" (he swears if we ever move that door is coming with us). 🀣

So, my idea for this swap is to use one or more of our nicest stickers or decals to create a piece of mail art for our partner.

You can peel and stick them to cardstock, then fussy cut around them (as seen in the image above) to create a sort of die cut. You could mount them on thin craft foam or cardboard to give them dimension. Or you can use multiples to create a scene or graffiti-style background.

Thin dollar-deal-type stickers or washi flakes can be made sturdier by decoupaging on top of them with a little plain white tissue, or napkin paper. Any other ideas? Please post them below to help our buddies out! We can all learn a thing or two from each other!

Possibilities are only limited by our imaginations!

This swap will be for:

One Piece of Mail Art

  • Please avoid any overt dislikes mentioned on your partner's profile page, otherwise, the mail art is the sender's choice

So this is a few stickers integrated into a mail art?

CookieMomster78 06/21/2023 #

@AliCrafter Yes, it can be! The idea behind the swap is for us to utilize one (or more) stickers used as an embellishment on a piece of mail art.

Try to think of it like taking a plain ol' sticker and dressing it up into something beyond just a peel-and-stick piece of paper...turn it into an embellishment!

However, we are NOT just peeling off stickers and "slapping" them onto a chuck of cardboard to simply mail our partner...it has to have an artistic/crafted component to it.

We are investing valuable time and energy into these, so they're not a type-2 swap.

The image above is an ATC that included the following artful elements: dainty gems, die-cut seaweed/coral, rubber-stamped backing, fussy-cut fish from a holographic storybook, scrap from a decorative envelope (text), and a vinyl sea turtle decal that way mounted to cardstock then fussy-cut and pop-dotted onto the card.

I hope that helps explain the expectations a bit better.

Thank you for asking!
