LSRUS USA - THANK A MAILMAN DAY on Feb 4th

Thank a Mailman (mail carrier) Day is on February 4th, 2024!

Feb. 4th falls on a SUNDAY, so make sure to fulfill this swap on FRIDAY or SATURDAY, Feb. 2-3.

There are two parts to this USA swap:

Part 1

On Feb. 2-3, put a bright, eye-catching, fun postcard into your mailbox for your postal carrier. Maybe washi tape it to the outside door of the box so they notice it. If possible, catch them in person to deliver. It's a good idea to mention that Feb 4th is Thank a Mailman (or Mail Carrier) Day.

Perhaps tell them if they did something specific, even if they were "supposed" to do it anyways. I'm sure a number of us can name things our carriers were supposed to do and didn't, so... what is something that went right? People just don't get appreciated enough! We could all use a good day, right?

You might also choose to send a card to the address of the individual post office (or offices) to thank them for delivering your mail, regardless of weather, and doing the best they can.

You can also do both! Send as many notes as you like. Generally, the Federal rules say that postal carriers cannot accept any kind of gifts. They are only able to IF a 'personal relationship' exists between you outside of the mail AND the gift cannot be in excess of $20. This is why I say to please send cards or postcards.

This is done on the 'honour system,' since no one can really verify that you did this.

Part 2

Message your partner through e-mail or swap-bot with a nice note! Say hello, comment on something you have in common, be friendly. The usual Swap-bot stuff.

Remember to include your SWAPBOT NAME and SWAP NAME in the message! That way, they know what swap the message is for!

That's it. That's the whole swap. Show some gratitude and say hello to people. Super-complicated, I know.
