Dear Friends of Amberleigh, On behalf of Mrs. Wallis, Lady Caroline and myself, I am happy to announce the date of our Christmas Ball which is to be December 16th at the Rose and Crown. Our theme this year shall be Winter Wonderland and we would love to see a bit of winter adornment on you all as you come to the Ball, be it a sprig of holly or a pine cone, which will certainly add to the festive ambiance of the evening. I must caution the gentlemen, however, there shall be no wearing of mistletoe to elicit kisses from the young ladies. Mr. Penn, our Master of Ceremonies, shall not deal kindly with any gentleman who disregards this. The evening shall begin at 7 oβclock and carry on until midnight. Many thanks to Mrs. Wallis, who has miraculously engaged the Cheltenham String Orchestra, who are much sought after, to provide music for our special evening. On entry, the ladies shall each receive a snowflake brooch to mark the evening. With anticipation of seeing you on the night, I remain your devoted friend, Lady Elizabeth For this swap, as we draw near to the Christmas Ball, we will be creating a little journal. In your journal, the days leading up to the ball shall be filled with your preparations, for example, if you are altering a gown, or sewing a new one, how you shall dress your hair, who shall be among your party, how you will be conveyed to the ball, the final page shall tell about your evening at the ball. Make yours a journal that is a delight to read, filled with all your careful plans for the evening. The Details We will have one partner for this swap. To make your journal, use one sheet of copy paper, or coloured paper of that size if you choose. Cut the paper in half, place the two halves together and fold. This will give you eight sides to write upon, although you need only write for the seven days preceding the ball. The cover shall be a Christmas card or notecard or you may craft a card for the occasion. You may decorate as much or as little as you please, you may also make a digital card and use a pretty font to type your entries. Most importantly, be descriptive, describe your anticipation, who you would like to dance with, or if you prefer to just enjoy watching the dancing. Imagine the evening, how the ball room looked, who your dance partners were. There are so many things you can discuss. If you have any questions, please contact us, we are always happy to help. |
