Description: | |
In Georgian/Regency times, ladies would devote their mornings to calling upon friends, or alternatively receiving guests. These little impromptu visits were of a short duration and served to let the ladies keep up to date with her neighbours and friends. When she was not out paying her calls, a lady would let others know she was “at home” and happy to receive them. Generally, tea and little cakes were consumed amidst conversation and it was not uncommon for several ladies to be visiting at one time. For this swap, we will have a Postal at Home. Send a short chatty letter (at least one page) or a notecard, in character to your partner telling her all your recent news. Things to write about can include (but are certainly not limited to) a recent visit from a family member or friend, a new gown you are sewing or that you have purchased, what you are growing in your garden or the trial of a new recipe. Try to make your letter a little glimpse into the life of your character. With your letter, please send an individually wrapped tea bag to simulate a morning call. Please be mindful of your partners’ preferences for tea and also allergies. This is meant to be a light hearted chat so we can get to know the other villagers better. Replies are up to the receiver, but are not required. |
