Description:

Up for your consideration.....a haunted graveyard shrine! This should be a screaming good time! (warning my swap descriptions will probably be full of groan inducing puns)

You will create a shrine for one partner this swap.

Take a large matchbox (250 count). Decorate the outside AND inside. Remember this is a shrine, not a filled matchbox. You will make a scene inside the matchbox depicting a cemetary/graveyard on All Hallow's Eve. It should have a clear Halloween and cemetary theme to it. Throw in some witches, some ghosts, goulies, Jack O Lanterns.....whatever you feel is Halloweenie! Get creative and go nuts. For pictures of shrines galore go to Flickr.com and type in matchbox shrines.

Please note that you can also make your shrine with doors, instead of the sliding out of the sleeve variety if you so choose. Also, there is a wonderful link here that @stitchinwitch found that looks like it would be fantastic!

Any of these methods are acceptable for this swap.

To make doors for your matchbox shrine:

~Simply cut the front portion of the cover of the matchbox straight down the middle, lengthwise. Glue the cover portion over the slide "inside" box. Glue the back and sides of the cover to the inside box portion, leaving the front "doors" to open. Voila! Now decorate as you would any shrine :)

This is a group member swap only. Group member requirments apply. NO FLAKING ALLOWED!

Now my fellow Halloween fiends let's get to making some boo-tifully spooky graveyard shrines :)

Great idea! On my watchlist. :)

how do you suggest in sending this so that it doesn't get smashed during shipping and handling? I've never made one before? Thanks!

I figure probably a small box (just big enough to hold a the larger 250 count matchbox). I don't think a padded envie would give it enough support not to be crushed since it isn't filled.

gotcha- thanks! <{:O)

Could it be done in this style (not beach huts obviously lol)

Certainly Stitch! In fact I'll add that link to the swap description. Those are beautiful! Thank you for the link :)
