INTERNATIONAL!!!

This is an easy swap that might or might not be for you (explanation below).

My third-grader recently made a picture for his teacher’s end-of-the-year gift and then kept forgetting to give it to the mom who was putting together the gift. Finally, I tied a string around his finger to help him remember. One of my older sons saw the string and it started a conversation about how we help ourselves remember things. He told me a few things he does that I never even knew! For example, if he has to do something first thing in the morning, he leaves his robe on the floor instead of on the chair where he always keeps it. Then, when he gets up and sees the robe on the floor he asks himself, “Now WHY is my robe down there? and then he’ll remember that he wanted to remind himself that he has something to do that morning. My third-grader interjected that he thought it’d be a good idea to write yourself a note on a post-it and stick it to your forehead, right in front of your eye. We got a kick out of that idea. When other members of the family heard us laughing, they came into the room and got in on the conversation. It was fun to hear about all the little things my family members do to help themselves remember things. So, that got me thinking that maybe there are some more good ideas out there to help us remember to do things and so now I’m asking YOU…What do YOU do to help yourself remember things (like appointments, returning library books, etc.)??? By the way, the string around the finger worked! My third-grader finally turned in his picture that day!

For this swap:

  1. Buy or make 3 postcards.

  2. Think of something you do to help yourself remember to do things (like tying a string around your finger). It can be one good idea or several, depending on what you have to say! Include helpful details—like if you are good about using an appointment calendar, describe your calendar and how you use it.

  3. Write your idea(s) and the helpful details on each of the 3 postcards. (Include “How I Remember Swap and your user name on your postcards.) You can write the same thing on each postcard.

  4. Send your postcards! (This is an international swap. Please keep this in mind if someone seems late.)

  5. I think it’d be fun to see everyone’s ideas, so please share your idea(s) in the “comments section of this swap after your cards have been received.

When you rate your partners please give a 5 if you receive a postcard with at least one idea. (We won’t be judgmental about the ideas.)

Important Note: Your idea(s) should be something you actually do and that works well for you. If you are completely unorganized and forget things all the time, this is not the swap for you but you might want to check back and read the comments section to see what ideas people post! :)

I’ll be checking profiles and deleting those that have low ratings and/or recent no-sends. Newbies with full profiles welcome!

Happy Swapping! I hope that we’ll generate some helpful ideas for each other!

This is such a good swap! and an even better story!

I've joined my limit for this month! heehee but here's mine:

I always forget where I place my keys or phone - so whenever I put them down, for example on the tv - then I have to imagine that tv BLOW UP! and Explode! so next time I just need to remember the last thing I blew up!

I don't have a hard time remembering what things I've blown up because I forget them all and I only remember the last one!

So Cool! I can't do this one either... :( But this is what I do: write in dry erase marker on the bathroom mirror!

I really love the idea (and story behind) of this swap! I can't sign up either, but what I do to remember things is...

Write it as a Marquee & have it as my screen saver. Then I change the screen saver settings to come on after 5 minutes of non use.

I've actually just started it for the 1st time a few minutes ago, so I'll see how it works. I figure that after seeing the message so many times (I actually have it set for 1 minute because it's about calling a utility company)that I should remember it quicker.

Good luck with the swap! Hugs, Kelly :-)

Great idea, Kelly! I should try this because I do seem to be spending a lot of time looking at the computer screen these days.

Hi swappers! Just a note to let electrogeek77, sunbeamncz3, and send-my-family-a-postcard know that their Wonder Woman-themed postcards are on the way!

Artistic 06/18/2007 #

Postcards I made went out today to my three partners. Hope you enjoy my tips!

Thanks to electrogeek77 for the great tip to keep some sort of notebook handy to write down jobs and household tasks so that it becomes like a personal manual! Great idea! ♥

Sunbeamncz23 sends two great ideas: 1) she sends herself emails --which she constantly checks 2) she hands things on the door know so it's the last thing she touches. :)Great!
