Description:

For this swap, you will take 1 standard sized (not the mini ones) composition notebook (I found these for 50 cents a piece at my local wal-mart in the back to school bargains) and you will cover it with scrapbooking paper, beads, buttons, ribbon, whatever you want and send it to your partner. You can cover the inside covers too if you want. It's up to you!

Please view your partner's profile to get a good idea of what they would like to receive.

This is a pretty simple crafting swap. It doesn't take very long to cover a notebook. And there are so many many different types of mediums out there you can use. So please don't flake on this swap.

It may even be possible to send this swap through media mail via USPS.

Newbies are welcome with a WELL FILLED OUT PROFILE, and no veteran's with a rating lower than 4.7!

If you have any questions, please write them below. Thanks!

I just bought a couple of these at the dollar store for this exact reason! I love altering composition books! Great idea!

love the idea of this swap, just so i'm clear, what is the "standard" size, the same size and lined paper you'd put in a binder? does it matter how it is bound? also what is media mail>? can't it just be put in an envelope and mailed? sorry for so many questions.

bluecrayons 07/29/2009 #

it has to be a composition book. they are about the size of a lined paper except there bound together . they normally come in black/white. media mail consists of music, books, magazines ,but only certain ones. you will have to take it to your post office and ask them. its just a nother way to mail something. you can send it in what ever you want to .

i love this idea, i was just thinking last night how much i really wanted to cover a notebook using all the new things i've learned from swapping on here! and if i'm not mistaken i think it's less expensive to send it as media, but i've never done it and i don't have any idea what counts as media

imakebelieve 07/29/2009 #

Are these the ones that are sprial bound or the black and white type? Not a big fan of sprial bound composition books. I like the smaller 9 3/4 x 7 1/2. I have one right here. Is that the size

Darleneh710 07/29/2009 #

@imakebelieve I believe they are not the spiral bound,. They are black and white/ also I just bought some blue and white one's the other day, not sure the size. hth

i just mailed one of these on monday and sent it parcel post and it was a little over $4.00, I think $4.40. it is a fun project to make.

FabulouslyTarnished 07/29/2009 #

that's the reason i suggested media mail if you can get away with it. it doesn't cost as much as first class or parcel. so when you go to ship it, i would check with your P.O. and see what they say!

Media mail takes longer sometimes. I have had bad luck everytime I use it. I look forward to your swap! You can use a Flat Rate Priority Mail Envie for a little over $4.

BrennenB 07/30/2009 #

I don't think you can send this media mail. Printed books meet the requirements, but blank journals and (note)books don't qualify. I know that means it will cost more, but I'm still looking forward to doing this just as soon as I free up a spot on my dashboard. What a great idea!

FabulouslyTarnished 07/30/2009 #

I sent a blank book before. But my Post Office is pretty lenient.

kimpe 08/ 3/2009 #

Hope about if you write your partner a note on the first page or attach a quote or something. It's no longer blank then right!!

Bought my Composition Notebooks this weekend and just signed up. This looks like great fun. I did buy three - so I can do extras for gifts.

CalizonaDesigns 08/ 4/2009 #

Flat rate envies are $4.95 to ship, $0.60 extra for a delivery confirmation. I cannot wait to do this!

Wow, TC, those are amazing! They definitely got my creative juices flowing, though I'm not sure that I'll be sewing. I've been bouncing a few ideas back and forth.
