Description:

this swap is about copying one (1) of your newest albumns and sending it out to two partners (2). er, i guess the only rule is that you must have the original cd and it must be yours. it also has to be fairly new, because music swaps are better when new material is included, rather than tracks that have been heard over and over. oh, and by albumn, it means that the entire cd must be by the same artist, it must not be a compilation of different artists. its luck of the draw too, so if you get an albumn you dont really like that is not your partners fault. rate them fairly.

international swap. no flakers/ bad ratings. newbies okay, because i can angel this swap just incase. but it is cheap & easy so that shouldnt be a problem, right.

make it special for hearts, ta.

Sender's choice on the type of music? Christian, rock, R&B, pop, jazz, rap, country...???

moggiex 08/ 7/2009 #

sure is. sender gets to choose what the genre of music is.

I don't mean to be a killjoy, but swaps like this - straight duplication of commercially available albums, which is inarguably illegal - can bring down a lot of record industry hate on a swapping site. I know from my own involvement that several Live Journal trade/sale sites have received cease and desist notices re: burned CDs over the past few years.

Mix CDs can bring the hammer down, too (they are also generally considered illegal), but they aren't as aggressively targeted and have many more defenders in terms of artistic/creative merit, including many DJs and musicians whose own work is commercially licensed.

Please note that I'm saying this as a former radio DJ who still loves making mixes! I am not trying to make you feel bad or belittle your idea, just stressing that these kinds of swaps - of burned CDs, much more than mixes - can have bad consequences.

yeah, i considered this when i was making the swap & i feel that it is important that "you must have the original cd and it must be yours". er, i guess that is so that the CD was originally bought from a retail department & the creative artist was paid for it. i dont feel that it is really that damaging if the CD that is passed on is used only for personal use.

i dont know if that makes me naive or whatever, but i guess that if your are completely against the swap, just dont join it. like, its important to have your morals & be ethical in these kinds of swaps, so just keep it in your 'personal cd stash'. lol, cool?

I might add that when someone turns someone onto a new artist by burning them an album in full, there is always the possibility that the person will LOVE it and proceed to purchase the rest of that artists discography. In that case, what harm is there in having one burned CD and the rest bought? That is sort of the point of swapping and burning a full length CD isn't it? I've discovered a TON of new bands from mixes and swapping CDs with my pen-pals over the years, and have in turn purchased a massive amount of music by artists I was turned onto and would not have otherwise heard of hadn't it been for my pals. Mainstream radio doesn't always play everything that is out there, as you may know Mrrranda. There is a TON of raw talent and independent artists just waiting to be discovered and mixes and CD swapping are one way for that to happen, so I don't see it as a problem, quite frankly.
Then of course there's always LimeWire, 360 Share and MP3 Rocket going around, too,but I think they are arguably more damaging to the record industry than Swap-Bot, LiveJournal or MixChange could ever be, so whatever....
