is it original art? Im drawing my face....I like to use magizine images, but onlyto alter...I do not know anything about gesso...Ive been meaning to learn about...guess I will have to buy some and experiment.

The gesso is a clear-ish paint that dries on the magazine pic and so you can draw on top of it :) there's a tutorial if you google it.

Here's a well-done tutorial for using white gesso (I don't use clear gesso) over a magazine image to create a new image:
