Description:

Hi sewers, this is a fun swap, here is what you do:

1) Open up a paper envelope along the glue lines, without cutting or tearing, or use a template like the one here:

http://www.creativedelights.com/downloads/?dlid=1015&file=4+x+5.5+envelope.pdf

for your pattern. Sorry about the broken link, you may have to paste it in your browser. This will be your pattern.

2)You will need to cut two pieces of fabric that are larger than your template, plus one piece of double-sided fusible interfacing, also larger than your pattern. Make a sandwich of your fabric, interfacing, and second piece of fabric, with right side out, and interfacing in center, and fuse according to instructions.

3) Let the fabric sandwich cool, and the mark out your pattern, and cut it out of the fabric sandwich. Mark your fold lines in water soluble ink if you like. Then, fold up your envelope and use permanent fabric glue to secure flaps of envelope to make the pouch, leaving top flap free. Fold the top flap down, and press shut so that you have a heavy fold line where the flap closes. If you are a good buttonhole maker, make a button hole in the top flap, and sew on a button for closure, or use a snap, velcro, or any other type closure you desire to hold the flap closed.

4) Go crazy and embellish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This envelope will now be a great place to hold special things.

Please do not sign up for this swap if you are in any other swaps that you are late in sending. I reserve the right to ban anyone from this swap for any reason and I will not enter into any discussion regarding this. If I feel the need to ban you, I will explain why when I do so.

Please email me with any questions or problems, I will do all I can to help.

What a great idea I'm in! Are you going to put a minimium size on the envelope as there are so small ones out there?

user8565 06/17/2007 #

You have a good point there, how about no smaller than a standard letter-sized envelope, such as the ones you can buy in a box of 50?, somewhere around 6 1/2" x 3 1/2 ", I would say no smaller than that.

I love this idea. I am in!!!

I love working with fabric, as I am a quilt maker. I'm looking forward to working on this one.

FYI, I am going through the list of players and removing anyone who is late on other swaps, even just one swap. AM

When we send, are we packaging this fabric envie in another envelope and mailing it, or are we sending it in its own skin?

user8565 07/31/2007 #

we are sending it in another envelope to protect the embellishments.
