In honor of Earth Day this month, let's make postcards from recycled materials! The trick is to use things that aren't typical storebought craft supplies: cereal or other food boxes, images from magazines, newspapers, junk mail, images from previously used notecards or postcards, ticket stubs, take-out menus, etc. No scrapbook papers, storebought cardstock or stickers allowed! You'll be sending your partner a postcard made of recycled/repurposed materials. The postcard should be of an appropriate size and thickness to mail through the USPS "naked", that is, without an envelope. You may want to use packing tape to secure images so that they don't come off during their journey. From personal experience, I know regular craft gllue sometimes doesn't cut it in these hand made postcard swaps. Also, please be sure your postcard has the appropriate amount of postage to make it to it's destination. You can find the USPS postcard guidelines here. If you chose to make and send a postcard that is larger or thicker than postcard rate allows, that's fine, just stamp it accordinlgly:) Finally, remember to include your swap-bot user name and the swap name on the postcard, get creative, and have fun!:) |
