Description:

I'm not sure how many swap-bot users participate in this kind of thing but I want to give it a shot.

This swap is for anyone who sponsors a child through a charitable organization like Compassion International, Child Fund, and other similar charities. The kind where you pay a monthly sponsorship to provide a child with food, education, etc.

You will have one partner and will send them one letter. In this letter please give some details about your child. Name, where they live, age, activities they enjoy. Include a picture if you have one, but it's not a requirement.

Also talk about what sponsorship has meant to you. How has it affected your life? Have you learned anything about yourself or the world? What is your relationship with your child like?

If you sponsor more than one child, you may write about all of them or just choose one. It is sender's choice.

I could talk for hours about my experience in this area and love swapping stories with others.

This swap is open to anyone with a 4.9 rating or higher with no 1's or 3's in the last 3 months. Newbies are very welcome with a filled-out profile.

Any questions feel free to PM me. I hope there are others out there that participate in this kind of thing!

I sponser 3 girls but I'm wondering if we can chatter about other charities we support too. For me unfortunately I aren't so close with my sponsored children as none of us communicate in the same language.

Sure, feel free to talk about other charities you support, but the majority of the letter should be about your experience with sponsoring children. If you don't have a close relationship with your child, talk about how you feel participating in this kind of thing.

If I sponsor two children through two different charities, should I talk about both or it's better to focus on the one I have more relationship with?

People who sponsor children should look at Kiva.com . its a microcredit loan system to get small buisnesses started by people who couldnt afford to otherwise. take a look

@Mousetail I'd say that's up to you. The only requirement is one child, but if you want to talk about both that's fine too! I'll add something about that in the details.

@thegreengriffin We support Kiva as well! Such a great system!

I'd love to participate, but I sponsor a child through SOS Villages, and they have a very strict policy on not sharing any pics or infos on the child... Great idea, though :)

Yay for KIVA!
