Awesome!! I totally cut out the sides of a cookie box the other day because the design was PERFECT for a postcard :D

I've been cutting up boxes for the past few days for this. :)

Although for this particular swap we need to use food boxes, many tissue boxes now also come with beautiful designs on them. Likewise, the wrappers of some food items are often quite fun and interesting, especially candy wrappers. For example, I just recently made an M&M themed bookmark for a swap using M&M stickers, the cardboard insert that came with them as the base, and images cut out of large bags of M&M's. It really looked cool, if I do say so myself. :)

Can we embellish the postcards with paint, other recycled bite, etc.?

takinghearts 06/15/2010 #

The postcards can be embellished as long as you can still see what it was originally from. :)

Aww, if you do an international one I'd love to join...this sounds fun ^.^

@takinghearts does that mean the brand name still has to be on it? I was going to cover mine up and integrate the box design in with something else.

@alexalgebra I think as long as you can still recognize a character or a brand name or something like that, it will be fine. Like if you used a Trix box, you could cover TRIX as long as the bunny was showing, I think most people would recognize the Trix bunny. Does that make sense?

Oh, it's not a known brand. It's from a box of Trader Joe's cookies, LOL! It just had a really cool design on it.

I would say go with your instincts. Make it look however you like as long as you can tell it was from a food box.
