Description:

Aren't hats great? They are the ultimate cool weather fashion item - right out there on top of your head for all to see. And they are useful too, lest you lose all that lovely body heat out the top of your noggin. They are quick to make, since they're so small and relatively simple - or you could go wild and add all kinds of cool features (I saw one with holes for pigtails!). They look great on all ages, genders, races, and species (except, maybe, fish). And there are so many ways to make a hat - knit, crochet, sew, surely others...

This swap is for handmade hats - just in time for the nippy weather to get going (at least in the northern hemisphere - sorry my Aussie/Kiwi friends!). Here are the rules:

1: This is an international swap. Hats are pretty light, shipping shouldn't be too bad.

2: You'll have one partner, to whom you should send one hat.

3: If you have a preference of type of hat (adult vs. child, male vs. female, human vs. nonhuman [yes my dog wore hats]), materials needs (i.e., if you're allergic to wool), and a color preference, please make that clear in the comments. Do this early - if you have a preference but don't note it before your partner makes your hat it's your problem.

4: I like to get a note with my swaps explaining why the item was made for me. Please include such a thing - but no need for goodies unless you're just one of those people who can't send a package without tea bags inside it.

5: Newbies with a completely filled out profile are welcome - I do ban but will send email first requesting info.

6: Oldbies (?) with a less than 4.5 rating and recent no-sends will be banned. If you see someone sign up who has stiffed you/someone you know, please alert me and I will take care of it. I also reserve the right to ban you if you haven't got a filled out profile, even if you have 100 hearts. It's just not fair to the newbies to force them to be so open and yet let the rest of us slide.

7: Signups end September 7th; mailby date is October 19th (6 weeks). I send lots of reminder emails, but if you're not going to be able to stick to the schedule don't sign up.

8: Got a great (free) hat pattern? Post it in the comments! I personally love the listings at Knitting Pattern Central and Crochet Pattern Central for knit and crochet hats, respectively, but you may have alternate sources.

could i please have a hat for a female, adult human?

KT 08/25/2007 #

I can use hats for male or female adult humans, female small child (3yo), or preemies (I collect them for the local hospital). Please no wool - I'm allergic!

Cherries 08/25/2007 #

Adult female please! I'm also very wool-sensitive (so no wool!) & not a fan of yellows, rust, browns.

Lava 08/25/2007 #

I would like a hat for an adult female(me!). I would like green, black or grey and no furry/fuzzy wool. Thanks :)

Could I please have a hat for an adult female. I love autumn colours. Thank you!

cutthefool 08/28/2007 #

i like to give people creative freedom, so basically i'll either take a hat for myself, my six-year-old daughter or my three-year-old son. for me, i like pink, purple or blue. my daughter's favorite colors are red and pink. my son likes blues and greens.

I would like a hat for a female adult human please! Thanks! My winter coat is chocolate brown so any colors that go well with brown works for me.

i'd like a hat for an adult male or female. we both have big heads, so a circumference of at least 20" (or a ribbed hat) would be great! color preferences fall in the neutrals and darks (burgundy, forest green, navy, deep purple, etc). soft wool or wool blends are great. please send care instructions so i don't accidentally felt it if it is wool :)

kusine 09/ 3/2007 #

Adult female hat, please. I like hats in black, gray, and any of the more fun colors in my profile.

Thanks! Can't wait!

HI! I would like either a hat for myself (adult woman)or one of my two children. 5year old girl or a 2 year old boy. Any colors are good. Thanks

azureskyz 09/ 5/2007 #

Love hats! I would like one for me, an adult female. :)

I would love a hat for me...an adult female. My jacket is bright pink, and orange, but any color will do fine = I love orange though. I prefer natural fibers...

whatlolawants 09/ 5/2007 #

I'd love an adult female hat please. I prefer autumn colors and natural fibers. Thanks!

ixazalvoh 09/ 5/2007 #

ooooo....i am all about random (beanie, beret, funny balls, earflaps...bring it on), but i am an adult female, and i think my dog and my cats would be quite upset with me if i attempted to put a hat on any of them...i would definitely get hissed or growled at...so i think this fun will remain mine... believe it or not, my FAVORITE color is charcoal gray...so you can't go wrong there...i avoid browns, but not nearly as much as i run from pinks and navys...i am a sucker for stars....

i crochet, sans pattern (they confuse me), and paid rent making hats for at least 6 mos. of college, so if you are paired with me, keep this in mind and let me know what you like...i will do my darnedest to comply

hooray for hats! and sorry for the run-on paragraphs

arcticgirl64 09/ 6/2007 #

Adult female hat, black or white (or a mix). Prefer wool to keep my ears warm during the long winter here in the arctic.

luvcatzzz 09/ 6/2007 #

oh gosh, i forgot, i'm allergic to wool. just makes me itch miserably. bah! and i love wool. :-D

evansrabbitranch 09/ 6/2007 #

Hehehe, I love to spoil my animals so can I get a hat made for a dog? He is a full grown chesepeke bay retriever, about the same size as a lab. He looks good in anything NOT neon or pastel.

nerac101 09/ 7/2007 #

Only adult hats from non-smoke, non-pet homes (my husband and I are allergic).

Thanks!

Hi! I would like and adult female hat, please. My favorite colors are in my profile, though you don't have to be restricted to them, as my tastes are very variable. Thanks!

The number one thing to do is to set a budget. No matter how much you can afford to spend, you will be able to find the perfect set of wedding rings that will show your love. Juwelier

This is why it is far better to be married by your own clergyman, even if it means having the ceremony in a church which is not the most convenient location or the most grand. Better to move the reception, if it means having an officiant who knows you well. vow renewal
