Hi there and welcome to my swap. How many of us has travelled to the far east and was in awe of it all? Do you have a love for all things oriental, maybe you like the food, or the culture..or your spouse is from the far east? In this swap you are required to send a letter telling each of your partners all about your experience , what makes it so special, etc you get the idea. So, basically it is a swap to promote 'Oriental-ness'.

Please write at least an A4 sized sheet (one side) of your account (typed or handwritten) , in addition, enclose a small gift for your partners which may or may not be Oriental themed.

Newbies welcome with well filled out profile. I will angel if necessary.

Happy swapping.

When I think Oriental, I think "Chinese or Japanese." However, you said SE Asian culture. Perhaps you could clarify what area/countries might be considered acceptable?

SE Asia also inludes Guam, Saipan, AND the Philipians as well (station in SE asia for Five years)

Jenthewen, today using the word "oriental" is not really politically correct, "Asian" is preferred. That would clear up the confusion here. If you don't wish it to include India or any of the Middle East which is actually part of Asia, you can specify that. I would hope you include Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Mongolia [even Siberia] in this definition, as well as SE Asia: Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia , Philippines, etc. Too many people are very fuzzy about geography, so being clear is important. I woudl love to write about Mongolia because so many people know anything about it but I hesitate to join the swap based on the above discussion. I'll put it on the watch list for the next several days.

Sorry for any confusion - it was not intended. For the purposes of this swap only I will take 'Oriental' or 'SE Asian' to mean Japan, Korea, China, Phillipines, Malaysia, Singapore or Thailand. Actually, to me 'Oriental' means being from these countries and I appreciate those who may not agree with me, is an interesting whole new debate, but for the purposes of this swap let's leave it at that.
