Your piece must be inspired by the idea of ''gothic romance'' but how you interpret that is entirely up to you. It could be for a gothic valentine using dark hearts (even broken hearts and anatomical hearts) and flowers. Are you influenced by scary horror movies, tales of vampires, unearthly monsters, or an eerie ghost story by M.R.James? Do you love Emily Bronte's ''Wuthering Heights''? May be your partner has a bizarre and somewhat creepy valentine? Anything goes as long as it screams gothic & romance.

Charms can be store bought or handmade. You could also incorporate small lockets, filigree findings, black lace, different types of black beads, deep red beads, dark crystals, vintage hearts, cameos, tiny vials, black or blood red roses etc.
