Let's create a custom fragrance by blending essential oils. Smart women enjoy the power of perfume: nothing else can recall a romantic memory, create a sensational mood, or capture one's personality so vividly. There is a marvelous elation in discovering a quintessential perfume of one's own. Capture the spirit of the scent with high notes, heart notes and lingering base notes that intensify the perfume's effect. You could use dramatic, seductive blends, spicy, tropical blends, complex, sophisticated blends or elegant blends for your partner. You might want to ask them if they have any allergy to certain oils, like some are allergic to lavender. There are lot's of references online for perfume making. One of my favorite Spicy blend recipes is as follows: 30 drops of bergamot 18 drops of carnation 18 drops of sandalwood 12 drops of patchouli 6 drops of cedarwood dlient to fill a quarter-ounce bottle this is a spicy playful scent with the carnation giving it a sassy floral scent but the surprise is the deep underrscent of cedarwood, which lifts very slowly from the skin. You can have a lot of fun with this. And it's a relatively inexpensive way to create your own personal signature scent. You must have at least 4.90 rating and no recent 1's or 3's to join. If you flake, you'll not be allowed to swap on future scent swaps after this. If there's a problem, please let your partner know in advance and inform me as well. Im interested, however, it doesnt say how much we have to send (I have on hand some 1 ml vials)...also what about posting our allergies and definite dislikes?

i'm not sure what size that is....anything from a 1 ounce bottle and up to whatever size you want should be fine, but no smaller than 1 ounce. i think the bottles i have are 2 ounce so that's probably a good middle ground.

for allergies, yes, post them here and if you have any definite dislikes. but try to leave enough of a variety of things for your partner to mix that you do like. what i was thinking was a lot of people have essential oils on hand and i don't want them to have to go out and spend a lot of money on buying new ones. it's actually senders choice with the exception of specific allergies.

This sounds really interesting and fun. I however don't know how to make my own perfumes. I have a a couple ES oils but mostly fragrance oils. I also don't have the vials but could probably get them in town. Although I work with scents constantly, I would be a beginner at perfume. Also, I was under the assumption that straight ES oil on the skin isn't good. I thought it was to be mixed with a carrier oil?

EO is okay on the skin. Unless it's cinnamon or your are allergic to it. I have an EO blend that I put together for insomnia. I wear it almost every night to help me relax and fall asleep easier. I put some on the end of my pinky and put it behind each ear. And mine is straight EO

most eo's are ok without a carrier oil, but like you said cajunlady, cinnamon and i've had a reaction to citrus oils like orange so i would dilute it as well or lemon etc.

when i say perfume, it doesn't necessarily have to be an alcohol based product. like i have a blend of myrrh, sandalwood, frankinsence oils that i put together and then a cinnamon stick. it's a lovely scent when combined but it's not an alcohol based perfume. so you can take as many eo's as you like, blend and call it perfume. jeannie rose has some fabulous books on the subject and some wonderful recipes for the making. i'm sure you can google her and find some of them.
