Here we go!!!!

As agreed in our forum, we will buy/create and send our journals around between the group. Though it is a mail art-based swap, the theme of your journal is up to you. Please post your theme in the forum thread so everyone knows, and in case someone forgets to include a note. If you are open to anything, simply post "open theme" or sender's choice. Feel free to post items/subjects you definitely don't want to see in your journal. If you'd like your journal to remain as flat as possible, you may request this also. Consider using a sturdy envelope to begin with that can remain with your journal for the duration of the swap. (I think we're all envie "re-purposers", so I'm sure we all know how to open an envelope carefully enough to use it over again. Just an idea :)

Mediums & embellishments, or any combination thereof are sender's choice. You can decorate/write on/alter as many pages as you want, but at least 2-3. If anyone has other ideas, please let me know or post below or in the theme thread. I know we are all extremely creative, so other than a desired theme, I want to leave the rest open to each individual. Feel free to send extras to whichever partner you'd like, at any given time.

SENDING ORDER: The sending order is in the forum thread under "sending order". I arranged it so no one has more than one journal at a time and everyone will contribute to everyone else's journal. You may send to or receive from the same person more than once, but I thought it better than being overwhelmed with multiple journals. If there are any discrepancies, please let me know.

SENDING DATES: Since we all agree that trying to determine how long it will take each journal to get from one person to the next, and considering our international partner, I won't set specific send by dates for each journal. Let's all assume that we have 2 weeks with each journal before sending it on to the next person. Should you receive a 2nd journal before you've sent the one you have, you will have 2 weeks with that journal. (Remember, we don't always send to the same person. You have to look at that person's sending order to know who to send their journal onto.) We can post in the forum when we have sent/rec'd so that everyone knows when to expect a journal or start to worry when it hasn't arrived.

As far as the final send date (when the swap is over), I'll see where we are in a couple months, how long the post is taking, etc., and then adjust or change as necessary.

Alfie, please allow for international sending time when it comes to me sending and receiving. 2 weeks is much too little - 3 weeks at a push and 4 is the standard. Not sure how this will affect the dates, but it might mean that timeline needs to be adjusted for the possible extra time it might take to travel. I will stick to sending out within 2 weeks of receiving, but that doesn't mean my send to partner will get it in enough time to have their 2 full weeks for crafting...

We can see how international post affects the 'flow' and adjust accordingly.

Eeek! I did not realize I am supposed to send by Monday!

I agree with the sending and receiving timeline concern. I've found it best to not trys and stick to rigid dates, but for all of us to just commit to finishing and resending within 2 weeks.

eeeek i missed the sign up date!!! Are we supposed to send out our own journal within the first 2 weeks? That would only seem fair right? Since most of us probably waited until now so we knew exactly what KIND of journal to get...

Sorry I've been MIA.

Of course I'll adjust the send-by date from tomorrow to the end of the week. Does this work? And then I'll adjust all of the other intervals from there. I'm going to change the join by date because @AmyMarie hasn't joined yet.

I am the last one to be rigid with send-by dates (all of you who have swapped with me know that I usually send on the last day). Of course they are just guidelines, but I was also trying to avoid someone having more than 1 journal at a time. I guess it isn't an issue as long as they have a few weeks on top to send the next journal.

@Mar1l1ze - so should I increase the time we have with each journal by a week, making in 21 days to allow for mail time? I'm flexible & open to whatever, so just let me know :)

If we do 2 weeks to decorate a journal and 3 weeks for travel with sending and receiving from me wouldn't that be 5 weeks per person? I'm not sure how the dateline will work for that.

Maybe the best way to work this is not to add exact dates to when the journals should be sent and essentially "received" as we cannot control the postal system. The best we can do is record when we received the journal and when we send it out. We are all good trustworthy swappers :)

I suspect that at some point someone might end up with 2 journals at once. I don't think that is the end of the world and maybe then allowing 3 weeks for "decor" isn't so bad for that one person. Then they send of each journal on its journey. Cost will be the same either way in the long run.

Thanks for extending the initial send to Friday - really helpful :)
