X-slips are little slips of paper that have two or more snail mail addresses on them. At the top it says something like Make 5 fbs for #1, move #2 up to the first place, and put yourself as #2. Copy 10 times. (Or instead of friendship books it could say send 2 sheets of stickers to #1, or a recipe, or postcards, or any other little mailable thing.) Copy 10 times means you make 10 copies of the slip (very easy in this computer age!) and send them out to ten other people. We will send at least 5 to 2 partners. You can send more if you want.

Can these be done via email? Or do they need to be snailmailed?

Preferably through snail mail but I guess if your partner is okay with it you can send them through email.

If we're making these for the first time, do we put our own names as #1, or a pen pals name?

I am new to these so if anyone else knows what to do when first making them I'd greatly appreciate your input. I would guess it would still work either way! :-)
