Hello everyone, I am back after a break from swapping for a little while, I spent a bit of time focusing on my family. But now I am BAAAAAACK and eager to start swapping again.
I am a saltwater, Larrakia woman. (Indigenous Australian) I work as a stay at home mum with an 11 year old boy. I am also mum to a 9 year old girl, who is the spitting image of her father!!
I enjoy making things and am usually most happy in the kitchen creating a lovely meal or busy with at my sewing machine and craft supplies.
12/2/13 - my gorgeous puppy Tobie passed away yesterday! I am devastated, I had him for 14 years and we shared so much together. I'm so upset! He lasted long enough to let me have a happy birthday and to enjoy some birthday cake with me.
I have never found joy in cat ownership, much prefer the company of a dog, mostly cause they are much better at protection. I used to own some fish, but the day before my dog passed away, my son killed the fish by feeding them some of his biscuits. sighs
Brand New Heavies, St Germaine, and Aboriginal Artists such as Jessica Maubouy, Emma Donovan, Stiff Gins, and most music from the 80's, I just loooooooooooooove 80's music.
My most favourite book of all time is a book called The Secret Diary of a Slummy Mummy, that book made me laugh so hard I wet my pants. Well worth a read if you can get your hands on a copy, they are pretty rare.
Otherwise I am reading quilting magazines and cookbooks.
Favourite movie of all time is Sarafina. I am not really that interested in horror movies, but I do like a good thriller. Animated films these days are getting much better and can be quite fun to watch.
I love anything on UKTV. I just LOOOOOOVE Doctor Who (what do you think of the new doctor??) and Eastenders.
I spend my spare time sewing, and my fabric collection is forever growing. I just love trying new quilting patterns.
I have dabbled in scrapbooking, and love making my own greeting cards, but what I did have a lot of fun creating was minizines for recipes.
I will attempt most craft ideas once, and usually stick with smaller projects that can be completed around everyday life. I don't usually have time to be making HUGE quilts, although one day I would love to do a wall hanging.
My favourite food to cook would be Thai Food. I love making Laab and can do a mean tea smoked chicken.
I have written my own cookbook, as part of a women's leadership project. I added my favourite recipes with recipes from friends and produced a small cookbook. It was a huge success at work, it was all anyone could talk about for a long time, most people wanted to know after a weekend, which recipes the other had tried.
These are my likes, please don't confuse this with WANTS. These are things I like so you might get an idea of what I am interested in.
What will get you a heart? Something sent from the heart, something you have selected with me in mind. I am grateful for all items sent and don't consider myself too fussy at all. There was only one swap I have received that I was very disappointed with, and that was only cause it was very apparent there was NO effort put in at all.
Things I dislike.....
Things that smell like smoke or gunga - why wreck a good swap?,
Incense - especially the scent of sandlewood,
Religious/Agnostic Items - please don't push your beliefs onto me, if I want to know I will make the effort and genuinely ask, I DO celebrate Christmas and Easter, so sending religious related cards is fine, I just have had a few swaps where I was sent A LOT of 'Praise the Lord' paraphanalia, I like to praise him in my own way.
Cats - I am actually allergic to cats, and do not spend time around them, so images with cats I do not find appealing,
And finally I dislike Flakers!!! I do not care if you send your item late, as long as it gets here eventually. Send me a message and let me know it is going to be late and it will be all cool, life happens, I totally understand.
I would like to participate in swaps that are geared towards our children, so here is a wishlist for my children.
My son, Master C is 11 years old and really enjoys anything related to Lego, Star Wars, Thunderbirds, Planes, aeroplanes, fire trucks, and books, and lights (anything that lights up).
My little baby girl, Princess P, is 9 years old. My wish list for her would be some hair clips/bands, earrings (yes her ears are pierced), frilly girly things, dollies and anything pink or purple. She also is MAD for Frozen, Princesses, Mermaids, babies and dress ups.
I would love to share my country and family with people from all over the globe.
I have really enjoyed the swaps I have participated in. What really dis-heartens me is the crazy and sometimes bitchy (nasty) swap descriptions and the way some people go way over the top because something was not posted the first day the swap partners are assigned. Sometimes my items are posted late, I am only human, and I do have a life that prevents me at times from getting things done on time. (Being honest)!!
I shop on weekends for my swap items and my husband posts the items. He has a very busy job in the military and doesn't always find time to post items on time. (Sometimes the items have travelled overseas with him and back again before being posted - oops) But your items will ALWAYS arrive! If your item is going to be very late, or my husband has taken them on a joyride halfway around the world, I will ALWAYS let you know.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE This is very important for Australia!!! Please fill out a Customs Declaration Form if you are sending ANY FOOD, TEA or LOLLIES. No matter how small, there needs to be a form attached to the letter/package. Please do not post any tea that is not in its original packaging. All food also needs to be unopened and in original packaging with ingredients listed in English. Otherwise my whole package could get thrown in the bin by Customs Officers. I have had letters ripped opened and gone through because someone added a tea bag and some chewing gum without filling out a customs form.

Hey Danusha! :)
I'm Dóri, your partner in Read Profile - Write Comment swap.
I really hope you're better in Australia and you don't have any floods anymore! In Hungary we had a lot of snow and rains in a short time so nearby the Danube and Tisza River we will have problems I guess as they come from the hills from Austria and Ukraine :S I'm not living nearby the rivers, but I'm very sad to hear if the houses are with full of water :(
I'm very sad to hear that you also lost your dog :( We also had a very beautiful Belgian-German Shepherd, Rocky. He was very old as well, his only problem was that his bones weren't so good and he couldn't make steps :( Now we have an other German Shepherd and a cute Shih Tzu in the house :) I also love dogs as much as you, and fish too! <3
Hi! I am your partner for the Read Profile and Comment Swap. I love that you are so detailed in your profile... are the floods still going on? Sorry to hear that. I was in Sidney in 2011 in June, I think and it was very rainy then, which they said was unusual. I am sorry about losing your dog. It's wonderful you had him so long. We just got a puppy last year... a dachshund. We named him Jasper and he is a lot of fun. I am not a cat fan either! My baby boy is 23. He likes toys too, but mostly the expensive electronic kind! :). I am new to Swap bot and am enjoying meeting new people like you! Thanks for sharing your profile with me!
WOW a well filled out profile. I am sorry to hear that your experiencing floods where you live, I hope your safe! I also feel your sadness on the loss of your puppy, my most sincere heart felt hugs for you. But, I do totally agree with you on the cat thing...I never was fond of them either.....anyway it seems you and I have a few things in common. Hope you read my profile one day...oh and thanks for joining my swap.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!~
