Hi, my name is Phoebe. I have moved to the Netherlands from the US. I am concentrating on learning Dutch, and enjoying the beautiful weather, gardens, and architecture.
I love old books, even ones that are falling apart because I repurpose the pages into collage or art books/ smash books.
I especially love computer books from the sixties, seventies, and eighties.
I love kids books and/or textbooks with illustrations.
I collect postage stamps. In Dutch they are called postzegels. I love the artwork, the history, the cultures, the textures and the colors.
I love just about anything with a beat! My new favorite is BTS .
I love hearing music from all over the world, in all different styles.
I love Andrew Bird , Imogen Heap, Dido, Everything But the Girl, Black Eyed Peas, Regina Spektor, Dave Brubeck, Ddendyl, Sophia Urista, They Might Be Giants, and many many more.
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende was my first "favorite" book. It is still one of my favorites. It's very complex, much more so than the movie, and it was the first book I ever got angry at; I threw it across the room when I was 12. The main character started to make bad choices, hurting his friends and falling into the hands of the antagonist... That book takes you up, down, and all over the place. It's a good fantasy book, and also a good soul-searching book.
I love anything by Patricia Mclaughlan , E.L. Konigsburg , Isaac Asimov , Douglas Adams , Ursula K. LeGuin , Patricia A. McKillip , Orson Scott Card , Madeleine L'Engle , Alice Walker , Greg Bear , Donna Jo Napoli , Terry Pratchett , and Nancy Farmer .
I also loved The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston and any book that envelops you in a culture not your own. This would be different for everyone, but that's what's great about sharing and reading: you get to experience a little bit about someone else's life.
I just finished reading Ancillary Justice , by Ann Leckie, and subsequently read every book sheโs ever written because it was such an amazing sci-fi book.
I enjoy sci-fi, fantasy, interesting biographies, juvenile fiction, and juvenile fiction from other countries.
I love any books about fermenting food, like sauerkraut, kimchi, etc. I really enjoyed Real Food Fermentation , by Alex Lewin, and Wild Fermentation by Sandor Katz.
I'm into digital fabric printing: Spoonflower FeeBeeDee . I love pattern and color, which also leads to a love of photography, and stained glass. I've just begun to explore digitally generated art, which creates itself after you give it a few guidelines.
I have lots of favorite things; treasures from garage sales and thrift shops, art, music, and books that make you think, fabric, zines . I love zines .
LIght aqua is my favorite color. Light aqua, lime green, greeny teal, blue spruce, olive, and all that together works.
I love zines and writing, so send me a bit of something you wrote, either on a card, in a zine booklet, decorated with art and stickers, etc. Thoughts are good.
