Mostly I like to swap postcards. Sometimes I swap artsy creations and supplies.
My favorite postcards are state maps, beach towns, scenic parks (especially rivers and waterfalls), historically interesting places, of churches, lighthouses, windmills, MLB stadiums, museums (& museum exhibits), I like recipe postcards, art –religious paintings, children’s book illustrations.
State maps, I'm collecting both naked with message written & stamped and new, blank cards sent in envelopes. All others I mostly prefer naked, or whatever the swap requires.
Postage Stamps - Have recently decided to update my stamp collection. Need to find stamps issued between about 1990-present time. Hoping to rebuild a swapping stash, so am begging my friends & relatives to save the stamps off their mail for me! Am also collecting stamps of Portugal, so am especially interested in receiving mail with ordinary rate postage, several different ones to total the foreign rate.
Surprise Things I like to receive in the mail --- a letter, a letter opener, postage stamps, rubberstamps, butterfly, buttons, flower seeds, old photographs, maps, ribbons, bracelets, origami cranes, - mostly flat things that fit in regular letter envelopes. Orange is my favorite color.
I love to trade postcards. Am interested in swapping for multiples of state map postcards. I’d like 5 of your state, and am willing to swap 5 of California, or other cards from my area (or from my collection). For those who don’t swap postcards, I will swap supplies for creating ATC, inchies, cards, embellishments, ephemera.
Let me know. I may also be able to trade for ones you may need to complete your collection.
Love swapping postcards. There's something special about receiving a pretty card with a happy message. I'm putting them in a basket on the table in the tv room to share with my visitors. And I can browse through them again and again daydreaming about traveling and remembering my swap-bot friends.
I have a pet peeve about postcard swapping. Some people don't give hearts for postcards. If that's what we swap, and we checked profiles and sent something you would like, if we’ve written messages, not just identified ourselves and the swap, it should rate a heart. In my personal opinion.
I hope people who enjoy letter writing and who share some of my interests will consider becoming pen friends. I enjoy getting to know people, sharing our interests, swapping things we like, and finding letters in my mailbox! Am also interested in email pals or private messages here on swap-bot. It'd be fun to find a personal communication from someone when I come online.
Beginning to think of my repeated swap partners as if they are my postcard pals! Maybe some people would just like to be postcard pals, exchanging one postcard at a time, sharing our daily lives, interests, travels, and thoughts. I started the Wednesday Club group with this in mind - every Wednesday, we send each other a postcard - share what we've been doing, have planned, books we're reading, things we're making, whatever's on our minds. Come check us out!
So if any of these interest you, PM. I'll be waiting to hear from you!
I am proud to be Portuguese! My grandparents all immigrated from the Azores Islands to California between 1901-1916. They passed along their ancestral traditions and values, but not to actually speak Portuguese. I have been trying to learn, am much better at reading, than having conversations, but there is always hope. I have been doing my family history research for twenty years, and am very interested in my ancestors and our current living history, getting to know extended family.
My first visit to the Azores -July 2010- I can see myself being one of the summer people! I loved it! It was so beautiful and peaceful. I walked the ancestral villages and places where my grandparents lived. Now I just rewatch my pictures, planning to return. So, even though I do not speak much Portuguese, would love to hear from Portuguese people all over the world.
I love mail! I love swap-bot! I enjoy sharing my family history, gardens, museums, preschool themes, children's books, Magnetic Poetry, calendars, board games. I am a HUGE fan of NCIS & SF Giants. I knit. I am a preschool teacher & catechist. I read a lot! I have botanical pets (love flowers!). Am always reading websites & blogs about stamp art projects & altered art.
I have just become a Funstrummer! I got a ukelele for my birthday and joined a local group to learn to play. What awesome fun & so easy, I am already playing recognizable songs! Would love to find ukelele friends here!
In my Mom's memory I collect butterflies. In my Dad's memory I am collecting stamps again. I will also continue to find & make EZ Grasp 300 piece puzzles. It's relaxing. I used to make them with my Dad, & I miss him terribly, he joined Mom in January.
I’m rather technologically-challenged. All these new-fangled gadgets are too complicated for me. Wish I knew more about my computer, my cell, my digital camera, Facebook, recording favorite tv shows to watch later. I need to figure out the USB turntable to convert my favorite music for listening to in the car CD player & on my MP3 player. I don’t even know the tricks of my sewing machine! I’m not from the past either, can’t imagine life before indoor plumbing, with wood-burning stoves, reading by candlelight, riding horses or walking everywhere. I’ve never camped, but love nature.
My favorite crafts are with paper. I love papers, buttons, brads, flowers, ribbons, gadgets like punches, corner-rounders, shrinky-dinks, laminating, book binding, Sizzix dies. I am not very good at ATCs, but love to see the beautiful cards others make, so I have to try more to receive others. I’d like to make more cards, and inchies, and to join the swaps & creative challenges online. I love Crayola products, crafting supplies and gadgets. I love Stampin’ Up!
I knit some, it's mostly just a comfort thing, I don't often make things, I just knit. I love soft yarn.
I love to read cozy mysteries, mostly series about women amateur sleuths by women authors. Mystery series echo life - there are knitting mysteries, scrapping & stamping mysteries, baseball mysteries, mysteries that are historical, where angels help, set in favorite locations, where you learn more about your favorite things like gardening and baking, and so much more! I'm always seeking new authors. A list of my favorites includes Rett Macpherson’s genealogical mysteries. Laura Child’s scrapbooking series, Monica Ferris, Earlene Fowler, Jill Churchill, Dianne Day, Leslie Meiers, ...
I also have favorite children's authors: Eric Carle, Kevin Henkes, Mercer Mayer's Little Critter series, Margaret Wise Brown, Tomie da Paola, and Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series, among many, many more. Am especially interested in books about ocean life and butterflies.
I also love to read about Portuguese immigrants and travels. Lately I've been reading travel books. Not just the insider guides & touristy info, but books of peoples’ travels, especially women, and really appreciate their ideas & tips. I like to read about writers, artists, musicians, saints, even scientists – I admire imagination, inspiration, creativity, ideas.
I love swapping. I will always send. I will always rate, and I hope that I get the same courtesy in return. I try to rate my swaps the day that I get them, but sometimes I come home a lot later (as I get my mail at the PO, not every day) and do other activities before coming home, and forget, till later. Please ask about anything you don’t receive or I haven’t rated, I will make good on all my swaps, I want you to love swap-bot swapping as much as I do.

Hi Marlene, Please send a message. All your swap-bot friends are here for you.
I'm sorry, but I had to remove you as a member and officer from the Naked Postcards group due to your recent ratings. I hope you're able to sort everything out.
Wherefore are thou Marlene? We miss you and hope to see you back on Swap-Bot soon!
