I'm a stay-at-home-mom of a toddler, my baby boy. I recently left the Army, and my husband is in the National Guard. He will be deploying at the end of the year, so I need to fill up my time! I love crafting! I began as a child with cross stitch, then plastic canvas, then crochet, which is still my main focus. I love making all kinds of Christmas ornaments! My worst habit is jumping from project to project - I'm not sure how many "afghan starts" I have. I want to learn to knit, but the last time I tried, my hands were confused by having two needles...
I am not very particular about music - I only listen as a background. More often than not I'm listening to an audiobook! I do like Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin, Billy Joel, Harry Connick, Jr., Diana Krall, and Nora Jones. I enjoy rap and hip-hop, as long as it's not overly vulgar (that goes for anything). The beats get me and my toddler movin'!
Oh, where to begin...Terry Brooks, Stephen King, Barbara Kingsolver...most scifi/fantasy, thrillers, mysteries, pretty much anything fiction. I'll even read a romance now and then. I read nonfiction for informational purposes, not so much for enjoyment. My son loves books, both as toys and a snack...
Again, I'm not picky. Since becoming a parent, I'm more sensitive, so gory stuff is a no go. I love well done romantic comedies (Love Actually) and dark comedies, but mostly I watch dramas, as long as they aren't war movies. Mindless action flicks are good, too.
I don't get to watch as much, since preschool-type shows are usually on, but I like all the CSIs, Criminal Minds, The Closer, House, and my guilty pleasure, General Hospital. My son's favorite shows are Blue's Clue's and Go Diego Go!
Crochet is my biggest time commitment. I'm comfortable with it, and I find it more satisfying than most other crafts. However, I love learning new things, and I want to learn to use my sewing machine! I can cross stitch, plastic canvas, and very basic beadwork. Christmas ornaments are a favorite of mine.
I have two cats. I would have more, but my husband might move out. I like dogs and other pets, as long as they belong to someone else. I love reds, purples, and oranges. I look good in cool colors and jewel tones (except green). I can't go into a craft store without spending money. I might drown in my yarn closet. I would leave a string behind me to find my way out, but, well, it's a YARN CLOSET. I would leave a trail of breadcrumbs, but my cats would eat the trail and leave me stranded. I'm a devout coffee drinker, but I enjoy tea in the evening - or better yet, wine. For a stay-at-home-mom, I'm a horrible housekeeper. Hopefully I make up for it by being a good cook. I don't go to church much at the moment, but, if pressed, I would say I'm a Unitarian Universalist. I love photography and wish I was committed enough to learn more than "Auto" on my camera. I have no interest in scrapbooking whatsoever. I think it's neat, and people make beautiful things with the medium, but I'm never gonna pick it up. I like sandalwood, rose, jasmine, gardenia, lavender, mint, and very clean scents. Cinnamon gives me a headache. The detergent aisle at the store makes me sneeze.
