I am a retired kindergarten teacher who loves all kinds of crafts. I particularly love anything fabric and am getting started in quilting. I am always on the lookout for old and unusual items. I collect vintage sewing and kitchen items and old buttons. I love getting and sending mail. I have two children and four grandchildren who are the love of my life. My wonderful hubby and I just celebrated 41 years of marriage. We are active in our church and Sunday School class.
I like most music - exept for rap and rock. Usually listen to Christian radio stations because they are uplifting. I like gospel, jazz, oldies and country.
I love to read and will read just about anything if I am desperate. I like Jodi Piccoult because her stories make you think about real life situaitons where there is no easy answer. I also like Francine Rivers and Sandra Dallas. I like historical fiction but prefer no romance novels. I like most things set during the Civil War or WWII era. Brock and Boedie Thone did a wonderful series set in WWII. I usually take a book when I go fishing with my husband so if the fish don't bite, my day is not wasted!
I like NCIS. The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, and Person of Interest. They always get the bad guys! Wish real life was like TV! MASH was always a favorite and will still watch reruns. Sounds like I watch a lot - I really don't watch often and can do without if a good book has my interest. Am probably one of the last with a cassette player in my sewing room where I listen to books on tape.
I love anything with fabric. I cross stitch, but as I get older I want things that are completed more quickly. I am beginning quilting. I used to work some with my mom and have hand-quilted a top that she left. I jsut finished my first quilt. I enjoy sewing and making original items. I love to try new crafts. ( Think there may be some ADD in me since I can't stick to one thing). I will try anything once. I taught myself to needle tat just because it is becoming a lost art.
My husband and I enjoy playing cards with friends. We square dance, love to go to flea markets and yard sales. We have done the World's longest Yard Sale for the last 10 or so years. We love antiques and my kitchen is retro 40's-50's with red formica top table and an old red and white hoosier cabinet for my computer station. I love craft shows and getting ideas from others. I work with a group doing quilts for wounded military and learned to crochet to make hats for military for another group. I just started a quilt group at my church to try to interest younger women in this art.
There is not much I don't like. Love gardenias - they remind me of my grandma's house, hydrangas, spider lilies, day lilies and things that don't require much care! I love America and patriotism. I love my God & my family. I do not have a favorite color, but my kitchen is red and white and I collect old mugs/cups/kitchen items red and white. I like games and puzzles. I love hats - often wear one to church. I am more vintage than modern.
Rap music, saggy pants, people who will not accept responsibility for their actions. I do not like the way our country is heading!
I will always complete my swaps - sometimes it is at the last minute, but since I no longer work, I don't always know what day it is! :-) I try to put a lot of effort into my swaps and if you are not happy with something, I will gladly resend.
