Hello. My name is Jess and I like to make you smile.
I am highly addicted to doodling, hats, coffee, bright colors and laughing. When I was five, I asked Santa for a big box of crayons and 100 pounds of paper. Sure enough, "Santa" delivered and the obsession to create snowballed from there. I migrated to Southeast Alaska in 2010 from Mitchell, South Dakota, home of the World's ONLY Corn Palace. Now, in my thirties, I am lucky to live in a beautiful, inspiring place surrounded by an encouraging community of amazing artists.
I am a singer and my fiancΓΒ© is a songwriter. We have been a singing duo for over 5 years now and I am very inspired by all kinds of music and lyrics. I use lyrics in my work all the time. Some of my current favorites are Brandi Carlile, the Avett Brothers, Andrew Duhon, Band of Horses, Sara Bareilles, Shovels and Rope, the Beatles (always), Martin Sexton, Bonnie Raitt, and Dr. Dog to name a few.
I typically like doing things that involve painting so most of the arts and crafts I take part in are 2D. I have my own line of greeting cards that are all individually hand drawn so that keeps me busy! I like to paint wood and paper mΓΒ’chΓΒ© as well - journals, boxes and picture frames.
RECEIVING - I just love making connections and having mail from all over the world. I don't need things to really be catered to me. I enjoy all other art styles but understand it's nice to have a little direction so, if you send to me, here are a few things you could include if it works for you A list of your very favorite songs or bands (any list 5-20 ), a quote or song lyric, a sketch or picture or description of your happy place, a list of places you'd promote traveling to in your hometown, home state or country (if you're into coffee, tell me where your fave coffee spot is) and stickers
I am also from a huge family and appreciate child art so if your kid, niece or nephew, etc has a doodle or scribble you want to send along, I welcome that
