***Hi all, this past year I have been OUTLIVING cancer. I am finally on the other side of treatment and I'm almost ready to declare myself in remission! One more test I'd like to clear first. I am really grateful for this community during my treatment. Even though you didn't know it, you were helping me heal! That said, I may step away from being as active here for a bit to explore other outlets for creativity. I still have several coloring collabs I'll keep moving along and I think I'm still in on Zine Go Rounds. But as I send homers home, I'll pause for a bit. NO NEED to send me any extras. I'm getting ready to donate a bunch of art supplies.
Hi! I'm Ginger! I'm originally from a rural village in Ohio, I'm now in my 14th year living in the Seattle area after spending 7 years in Denver. I live on the peninsula of West Seattle with my husband, Greg and our two cats, Fu (bat) and Kuma (bear). I've been in financial services for too many years and recently discovered my right brain during the lockdown and have been dabbling in mixed media for the past year or so. Another member shared this site with me when reaching out to let me know she received my postcard from my first ever postcard swap. I'm looking forward to stretching myself with these really creative swap ideas!
Where do I begin? My favorite band is Gomez. I've seen them [or an individual member(s)] over 25 times. Then I would follow them up with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets. I recently watched The Beatles documentary, so I have a whole new appreciation for them. And Ringo is my favorite Beatle! I love so many 80s hair bands including Ratt, Motley Crue, White Snake (boy this is embarrassing to write...hopefully there is someone else out there like me?), Bon Jovi, Quiet Riot, Def Leppard...maybe I should switch to sharing that I also like Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, 1000 Maniacs - how about the 90s? - Counting Crows, Train, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots. I mean, I just generally love music and honestly will give anything a try. But, I always start my day with a Spotify playlist of ambient guitar music. I can't start my day without it.
I was pretty sheltered as a child and my husband has made me watch a lot of the classics from my childhood since we've been together. But here is the short list of those movies I have watch over and over and can pretty much quote: 1. Sixteen Candles (I wanted to be Molly Ringwald) 2. Breakfast Club (I actually wanted to be Ally Sheedy in this one...but be able to apply lipstick like Molly Ringwald) 3. 27 Dresses (favorite scene - at the bar dancing to Benny & the Jets) 4. Elf (I cry EVERY time) 5. CRUELLA ("I fixed it.") - GREAT soundtrack
Speaking of GREAT soundtracks, I'd add Guardians of the Galaxy's soundtrack and that movie may make #6 for me...but my husband would laugh at me for that.
Another great soundtrack (and movie) is Drowning Mona.
Well, of course Friends...I had cats named Phoebe and Chandler, need I say more?
I loved watching M *A *S *H with my grandpa.
Random list of others: Third Rock from the Sun, Arrested Development, 24, Scrubs, Psych, House, 30 Rock, Jane the Virgin, Veep, Westworld, Twin Peaks (both of them), Justified, Maisel, Russian Doll, Schitt$ Creek, Ted Lasso, What We Do in the Shadows, The Queens Gambit, The Mandalorian, The Fight Attendant, Mythic Quest, Stranger Things, Ozark, Succession, Righteous Gemstones, Escape to the Chateau, Naked and Afraid, RHOBH and RHOSLC, Vanderpump Rules and Bling Empire. AND football, but mostly college football and F1 Racing, so Drive to Survive, too.
This made me reflect back on my childhood, too. I loved Speed Racer, The Captain Kangaroo Show, The Uncle Al Show, The Great Space Coaster and The Muppet Show.
-I love to collage -I love to create zines/MAJs and small decos (the bigger ones are getting out of control with embellishments)
