About Me

Hello! I'm brand new to swap-bot.

I'm an American living in Cambridge, England. I love the history, amazing architecture, the hustle and bustle of students and tourists, bicycles whizzing by, and that you can walk everywhere! I saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they were here for their royal visit. I'm always looking for Kate & Wills postcards to mail out, but they are surprisingly hard to find.

Before moving here, I did a lot of camping, hiking, canoeing, just being out in nature. It's harder to do in England, but I still try to get out to the country and enjoy visiting the old manor houses with beautiful gardens and woods.

I love to cook and bake, read, and sometimes do a bit of crocheting. I adore Jane Austen novels and period movies with beautiful costumes. I'm trying to learn this very important British hobby of gardening. My garden currently has all these beautiful daffodils that just popped up all on their own!

I've also adopted the English custom of drinking tea constantly! I don't really like fruity teas, I prefer different kinds of black, spiced, or green teas. I also love chocolate, coffee, gummy candy (jelly sweets).

I have two cats. They are 10 year old sisters and spoiled! They think they run the house, and that was probably true until my daughter was born. :-)

I like to send and receive mail, and I try to pick out postcards and letters that the receiver would enjoy. Being in Cambridge, there are many great postcards of the sights here, but also some unusual ones too. I would like to see/read about whatever you want to send to me! If you need some ideas, maybe what your life is like, what you enjoy, some recipes, book /movie/song suggestions, your favorite quotes, or anything that is funny or unusual.

I will keep updating my profile as I discover what is helpful to have on here! Thanks for reading!

Comment: Thank you! If I find any artichokes, I'll give it a try!
Response: You're welcome! They're available canned in the US and UK. If you can't find that in Croatia, perhaps you can find an Italian grocer who will probably carry artichoke hearts in olive oil and seasoning as an "antipasti". This will work too - just drain the liquid off. :-)

Comment: You sound so much like me! I'm an Austen nut too, and I agree 100% on the love at first sight thing. I think it's great that you moved to England--I really want to but with all of my family here I don't feel like I can. If they would just all move with us...
Response: I agree - we love living here but wish we could import our families. Then it would be perfect. Have you seen the British miniseries "Lost in Austen"? It's hilarous, and I think reflects every Austen lover's dream. I recommend it, even if Mr. Darcy isn't as cute in this version as some others. ;-)
