I've been fascinated by needlecrafts, knitting, crocheting, etc. ever since I was a young boy and my mother taught me (or I book taught myself) to first make things with my own two hands. I work in a very constrictive, potentially stifling industry, so going home to be creative is very much one of my favorite things.
I'm also very much into painting, drawing, and graphic design, but the rewarding and contemplative nature of "a needle pulling thread" can't be beat.
I'm an avid book reader. I usually prefer the classics - something with staying power and if the protagonist is a woman I usually only prefer those characters to be written by women. I'm not completely closed to the idea of a male writer depicting female characters - I just find that they can't often write believable female characters. Some of my favorite books are The House of Mirth, Mrs. Dalloway, The Count of Monte Cristo, Persuasion, and One Hundred Years of Solitude
I'll have to copy my Facebook profile for this one - Cleopatra Jones, But I'm a Cheer Leader, Coffy, Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Horror/Slasher, Bound, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Die Mommie Die, the Hours, Gone with the Wind (without the rampant racist depictions)
Basically, like books I prefer classic films, but appreciate the honesty with which modern films depict their stories.
Bette Davis would have to be my favorite actress with Meryl Streep following behind as her modern counterpart.
