I am taking a break for a while. I'll be back, but I need to focus on other things right now.
I work as a logistics coordinator sending rail trains across North America, though my degree is in English literature. I planned to go into folklore studies in graduate school, but life got in the way so now I just read and collect.
I am married and have a 7 year old kiddo in my life who calls me stepmommy. He likes dinosaurs and Spiderman. We almost always have a craft project to work on each time he is with us. My husband collects foreign currency and arrowheads. We always have arrowheads strewn about the house.
I make cards for loved ones and for pen pals, put together jewelry, and practice very simple photography in everyday life.
I really love ATCs and inchies. Something about the challenge of limited space to make art appeals to me. My collection has grown significantly and going through it calms me. I enjoy receiving other people's art and sending my own on as well.
I love almost anything by Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, Joseph Heller, or Tom Robbins. I've read enough of the classics to know that I enjoy the absurd situational humor of contemporary literature more than the dry dialogue based humor of canonical literature. When it comes to the classics, I like dystopian fiction such as Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, and 1984. I also truly enjoyed all of Anne Rice's books.
I'm a fan of action movies, especially cheesy ones from the 80s and 90s or the ones with actors from them. I especially like First Blood, Terminator, Predator, and Alien. I also like parody movies, such as those by Mel Brooks from around the same time. Examples are Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Dracula Dead and Loving It, and Men in Tights.
I like extras sometimes, but for the most part, unless you just feel really compelled, focus on your art rather than extras. You are much, much more likely to get a heart and my appreciation if you incorporate these things into your art.
Arrowheads, birds, book pages, cemeteries, charms, cats, clocks, day of the dead, dandelions, daffodils, eyes, folklore & fairytales, flowers, frogs, gardens, ghosts, gnomes, goddess figures, graffiti, insects, keys, lycanthropes, loteria, legends, merpeople, monsters, mythology, magic, maps, Milagros, oddities, owls, photographs (old), ravens, stars, skeletons, skulls, spirits, trees, trolls, trains, turtles, time, tarot, witches & warlocks, wheel of the yearβ¦
However, I am nerd for folklore so if you have a local story you'd like to send, it would get you a heart!
Zombies, religious or political items, Disney characters or themes, anime, anything overly cutesy...
Sloppy artwork or stickers on ATCs. I do my best on every swap and am so disappointed when I can tell my partner did not. I know different people have different levels of talent and creativity, but sticker slapping isn't art at all.
Purple! Blue, Black, Dark Brown, Red, Gray, Green... Mostly I just don't like pastels.
Funny shows like Disenchantment, Lower Decks, and shows like Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. I also really enjoy the Witcher.
My all time favorite show will always be Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I will mark sent as soon as the mail is in the box - though the mail carrier may not pick up until the following day. This helps me keep track of my swaps. Also, I rate as soon as I pick up my mail from the box.
If you do not receive something from me when you are supposed to, please reach out. I've had people do this in the past and then receive two packages from me but I will always resend to satisfy the swap. I will reach out to you if I do not receive a swap as well. That's only fair.
I love postcards with little messages on them. I like the strange ones best - no postcards of hotels, homes, or statues unless they are very odd, please. Strange can be anything from morbid and off putting to just slightly odd or off kilter. Whatever you think would best be left in my hands.
If you are able to, always send handmade cards! I love seeing what other people can do with the space and how it flows through the mail system.
But please send naked and stamped.

So glad that you received it and thank you for the kind words! Can't wait to get back into art swaps, hosting, and group duties once my batteries charge up a bit!
Since I can't actually give a rating on this one, I needed to leave a comment. I love the celestial ATC you made me. Nice use of metallics :)
New swap up if you're interested!
