Description:

This will be a time intensive swap! I've been rolling this around in my mind for awhile and thought I'd turn it into a swap! Here's the details:

Find a child's jigsaw puzzle the fewer the pieces the better! I found a 24 piece for 25 cents at a yard sale! The pieces are quite large!

Alter each piece by painting it or covering it in decorative paper...Be careful NOT to cover the edges in paper or the puzzle will not fit together properly.

Embellish by collaging - stamping - adding tiny elements - inking the edges - etc

Take a picture of your finished altered puzzle

Take the puzzle apart - put it in a box (or re-use the one it came in!) Add the picture showing what the new altered puzzle looks like.

Mail to your partner when partners are assigned! Your partner can frame the puzzle for a one-of-a-kind piece of art!!

Your puzzle DOES NOT have to look like a completed picture when finished - it does not have to make sense when it is put together!! Look at links I've added below for ideas of how to alter the puzzle......

Have fun and be creative!

This is an awesome idea, Im gonna watch for now to make sure I have time to do it properly. I love unusual & artistic swaps though!

Sounds like fun-will be looking for a good puzzle and brainstorming ideas.

I find great small count puzzles with sturdy pieces at Dollar Tree all the time and they are only a buck each, would be good place to pick up a couple and start experimenting, just a thought.. :)

Does this have to be 2.5x3.5? Or a larger size?

CreativeRinds 06/27/2014 #

I love this idea ♡

  • @evieroz - This will be a larger size than 2.5x3.5......This is a complete puzzle that you alter..... For example, the puzzle that I am working on is 10" x 13" when completed..... If you look at the links that I included in the description above, you might get a better idea of what this swap is about. Also, you might find this site helpful.... CLICK HERE**

Sometimes kids puzzles are larger size for little hands, so what is the limited amount of pieces we should go for?

barbieloufromKY 06/28/2014 #
  • @ladydy5 - my puzzle that I am working on has 24 pieces....somewhere around that amount should be fine. I guess 18-30 pieces??? I'm not sure how many pieces different puzzles have...I would think the fewer the better!**

This is a great idea - not joining because of the move to GA. Please do this again next year:-)
