Wow! It sure was confusing finding this page...
I was "banned" from the Tea Bag and a Few Words Swap because my profile wasn't complete enough. Just figured out how to add information. To the basic stuff I gave when I signed up. This needs to be made clearer do Newbies like I am. Just sayin'...
So - here goes:
My name is Ilene Harris and I am a retired elementary school teacher. I live in the Redwoods of beautiful Humboldt County in the far area of Northern California, almost in Oregon. I love crafts of all kinds, usually focusing on quilting, book arts and jewelry making. We live on seven acres in a rural town, so the outdoors is special to me. We garden and make a sanctuary for birds in our backyard. I love animals of all kinds, and volunteer at a local thrift shop for the Humane Society called Tailwaggers. I enjoy traveling, snorkeling, reading and collecting found objects and upcycling them. I don't have a website or a blog, but I am on Facebook and you can see lots of pictures there.
I have made ATC cards once before, for a swap at an Art Retreat I went to called ArtFest, which was in Port Townsend, Washington. I liked those because they were like little pieces of artwork in a small space.
LIKES: animals, gardening, quilting, knitting, beach combing shells and glass, collecting found objects, buttons, old jewelry, reading, making jams and jellies from our garden fruit
FAVORITE TV SHOWS: Downton Abbey, Friday Night Lights (over), Mad Men
BOOKS: Right now I am reading David Sedaris' Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls. I like human character stories, not horror, murder mysteries or science fiction.
FAVORITE COLORS: Teal blue, purple, green (sea colors)
FAVORITE FOODS: dark chocolate, good coffee, butter cookies, Meyer lemons, fresh blueberries and Santa Rosa plums (all from our garden)

Happy Friday! It's a snowy day here in PA, yesterday was almost 60. We never know how it will be out here! I thought this horrible weather would be over! I see you like garden & so do I! I can't wait to plant all of my fruits, veggies, and flowers! I find it amazing & altruistic that you volunteer at animal shelter. I adopted my dog Mugsy from the Humane Society about 3 years ago, he is the most precious thing on earth. I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day!
Easy Profile Comment #3
Hi Ilene:
Could you please take a peek at the message I sent you? Thank you :)
J.
Hi there! So sorry for the late reply. funny how comments don't get notified by email...I am going to attend this fall. I'm really excited! My boyfriend and I haven't started looking for a place yet. Depends on if I take calculus here during the summer or not.
Green Hot Dogs!
I just read your comment/post. You are moving here? That's awesome! My husband taught at College of the Redwoods for 34 years and he's now retired. We have friends who taught at Humboldt State as well. Let us help! When are you moving and where in Humboldt? I think I am going to like Swap Bot for lots of reasons...
Hi! I see we are doing the valentine's day swap as newbies! Us newbies got to stay together and! Your home area is beautiful. I will be moving there to be with my family and go to HSU!
Took me a little bit to figure out how to augment the basics on my profile. Glad you're in Newbie Helpers and found some swaps. :)
Thanks, Liza!
That's just what I thought. So, I will add stuff as I feel like it...
Ilene
Your profile looks pretty complete to me. But some coordinators want more extensive info like music choices, hobbies, movies etc.... When I did mine, I kept going back & adding stuff to it...all at once was impossible to think! ha, ha, ha, ha.... Welcome to Swap Bot, enjoy your stay & have an awesome weekend. Liza Lopez
