Wielder of pens and brushes.

I just got into watercolour recently. I normally paint with acrylics. I am enjoying the way watercolours flow and blend and appreciating the looseness and expressiveness of this new medium. I paint big with acrylic and small with watercolour. My little palette and postcard sized papers mean I can sit on my couch and paint 🎨 in the evening.

Fountain pen 🖋 enthusiast. Demonstrator eye dropper pens are my passion. I love seeing all that lovely ink sloshing around in those big, clear, test tube-like ink reservoirs.

I got into fountain pens because I was tired of throwing out spent fine line markers. I am in love with all the lovely fountain pen inks and am addicted to watching ink review videos. I am now on the hunt for fountain pen friendly paper. I’ve picked up a whole new vocabulary: feathering, bleed through, shading.

I live on Canada’s beautiful west coast on Vancouver Island, in a rainforest, in the mountains, near the sea. My husband and I, and a little cat that we found sleeping in our patio 3 months ago, enjoy a quiet life. I spend my time gardening, book binding, painting and writing.

I don’t watch TV but I do love watching creators on YouTube.

Learned a lot about bookbinding and became addicted to fountain pens and ink.

According to the Myers Briggs personality test I am an INTJ (Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging).

This Swap meet seems like a great way to make some connections and have a little fun. It’s a nice way to get social in this socially distant world we have been navigating.

Translucent Journals

The Rice Paper Journal

I am obsessed with translucent paper that loves my fountain pens and water colour. I made the the above journal using rice paper. I sewed the 5 signatures into a hard cover I found at a used book store. The book has 100 pages (both sides). I enjoy layering drawings that show through the pages.

I am currently making onion skin paper journals of about the same size. I have been collecting used hard cover books of that size that have lovely covers. I think I can make around 25 journals with the onion skin paper I have. Onion skin is thin, tough, deliciously crinkly, translucent and takes ink and watercolour like a dream. It’s hard to find so I ordered 3 reams of it when I finally found some. I’ll post pictures when I finish my first one.
