Hi :) I'm Angela and I'm a fourth year Biophysics graduate student who loves all things paper-crafting. I am originally from Chicago but I moved a few hours north for school.
In my free time I write letters (yay for snail mail!), watch too much TV, read, and eat pizza :) Back in Chicago, I have two awesome chihuahua mixes (and 1 cat) who I am absolutely obsessed with. I recently adopted a little dog that I named Myles. He is also a chihuahua mix and he is the sweetest little thing, granted that he hates everyone except my mom and I :P
To elaborate a little on some of my favorite things shown below, I have been collecting stamps since I was in 2nd grade. I wouldn't say I'm a knowledgeable collector on vintage stamp values; I just collect ones I like--space related, vintage modes of transportation (old trains, boats, airplanes, hot air balloons, etc.), nature (anything with animals or pretty scenic views, plants, etc.), stamps with pretty colors, stamps about snail mail, dinosaurs, etc.
I love stickers! All kinds really, but my favorites have to do with animals, space, nature, dinosaurs, and hearts.
I also love thrift stores and as such all things vintage. I've found some really pretty stationery at the thrift store along with awesome clothes (it's like all your favorite stores in one!)
-broadway musicals
-writing letters/snail mail
-dinosaurs
-anything related to space/astronomy
-reading (fiction mostly; romance, mystery, thriller, some sci-fi/dystopian)
-collecting stamps
-animals (LOVE THEM ALL)
-paper goodies (paper bits, stickers, etc.)
-my planners (KikkiK, Filofax, Kate Spade)
-my traveler's notebook (it's my art journal)
-everything vintage
-anything mint, gold, teal or turquoise
-TV & movies (I love old musicals-think Fred Astaire and Doris Day era)
-all things Chicago
-anything scary/horror type items
-anti-God themes
-profanity
-cheesecake
-tea/coffee
-rainy days
-monday mornings
-dolls
-ad postcards (unless their vintage)
-anything with nudity
So many! But the ones I can think of at the moment are: The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Office, Saved by the Bell, Big Brother, Scandal, Revenge, Modern Family, Walking Dead, Gilmore Girls, Big Bang Theory, Switched at Birth, Masterchef, Vampire Diaries, Sherlock (BBC), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, 20/20, 48 Hours Mystery, Dateline, How to Get Away With Murder...I also LOVED Forever, Suburgatory & The Neighbors (R.I.P.) tear
I love, love, LOVE music. Of all kinds. But my favorite genre is definitely R&B. I also listen to hip hop, and rap, alternative, indie, pop, gospel, christian music (from all genres-ie, christian rap, christian rock, etc.), motown (love it!), doo-wop, oldies-but-goodies from the 60s & 70s, and some country as well. I play the flute and the clarinet so I also have a special place in my heart for classical and jazz (such a difficult genre to play!).
I love movies! My #1 favorite of all time is TOY STORY!! Seriously, toys that can talk when you aren't around-best idea ever :D
Other favorites include The Count of Monte Cristo, How to Train Your Dragon, Pitch Perfect, She's the Man, Think Like a Man, Wreck-it Ralph (also super clever! Video game characters that can talk when the arcade is closed?! AWESOME 8) ), Mean Girls, John Tucker Must Die, The Book of Eli, Grease 1 & 2, and State Fair.
Other movies that I REALLY like are Divergent, the Twilight movies (Team Edward!), The Fast and the Furious movies, I am Number Four, The Proposal, The Devil Wears Prada, Midnight in Paris, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Never Been Kissed, Ever After, 10 Years, superhero movies like The Avengers, Thor, the recent Spiderman movies with Emma Stone (love her!), Easy A, & more! :)
My favorite genres are romantic comedies, animated movies, old musicals, and thrillers.
I really love to read but I don't get to do it as often as I would--it still doesn't stop me from constantly checking out books from the library XD
I LOVE the I Am Number Four series by Pittacus Lore! It's probably my most favorite book series that I have read so far. I also love Twilight (I thought books 1 & 3 were the best) by Stephanie Meyer, Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Something Blue and Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin, and The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins (mostly just the first book though).
When it comes to postcard swaps, my favorite postcards have to do with nature/animals, space, disney characters, colorful cartoons, vintage themes, anything cute, or places where you live. I'm not a fan of ad postcards but other than that, I welcome anything :) I also do not have a preference in receiving naked postcards or postcards in envelopes. If you are international and worried about it getting lost, feel free to send it in an envelope. As a sender, I have had a few of my international postcards fail to reach their destination so I am wary of that nowadays, but if you aren't, just the postcard is fine :)
As far as ATCs, I am BRAND NEW to them. I just found out about them from Swap-bot and I love the idea of them! I cannot draw so if you are my partner for an ATC swap, please excuse my drawing as its terrible >< As a result, I will likely result to stamping and other techniques until I feel comfortable with drawing.
I recently started hosting a few swaps here and there and it's been a lot of fun! I just want to mention that I will always assign swaps the morning after sign-ups close. There is a two-hour time difference between me and Swapbot time (I'm CST), which would mean I'd need to stay up until 2am in order to check profiles and assign partners. Unfortunately I cannot stay up that late so I will send out partners ALWAYS by the following morning. Thank you for your patience :)
