I used to be a grad student and have moved into full time equity and social justice work. I do sometimes wish I could throw all books down, get off the conference calls, and move to Newfoundland where I’d craft all day, wear wool, and read at night. Instead, I read craft blogs and try to go a little greener in the D dot C…
All the King's Men (by Robert Penn Warren), The Grapes of Wrath (by John Steinbeck), Fall on Your Knees (by Ann-Marie MacDonald), Wuthering Heights (by Emily Brontë), The Element of Lavishness (by William Maxwell)... and many more.
"The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," "Children of Men," "Muppet Christmas Carol," "Fight Club," "Clue," "Amelie," "Scarface," "The Paper Chase." I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
Letterpress, Collage, Card making, Print making, Letter writing.
paper, crafts, vintage things, ephemera, buttons, chocolate, apples, lemonade, almost anything mail-related, books, libraries, 19th century-style old things (oh, I suppose that's covered in 'vintage'? I really, really like old things). My favorite colors: orange, deep purple, and green.
I just started collecting stamps and am hoping to build my collection with stamps related to women's history, space exploration, and postal themes. If you can part with stamps having to do with these themes I'd be VERY happy.
Ad postcards, Preaching about your religious or political beliefs, Licorice, mango, Make-up (I don't wear it), jerks, anything too girly-girl (pink is okay, but not ruffles and froofy stuff).
