About Me

Hi there! I'm an energetic, optimistic 37 year old art therapist. I live in Israel with my husband and son and our cat and turtles. In my spare time I like to write, draw, listen to audiobooks, play flute duets with a friend, talk to good friends and watch tv. I've also started penpalling, postcrossing and swapping and love it.

I enjoy heart to heart talks with friends, laughing, getting swept into a movie and goofing off with my husband at home. I love roller coasters and nature and being able to see the sea from my living room (great sunsets).

In my job I work with children and adults and am a small child at heart. I'm glad I found my profession and so far enjoy what I do very much!

Favorite Music

All sorts: 80's music, classical, ambient, R&B, funky, pop, chill out and electronic, relaxing music.

To be more specific (though open to a lot more): Beck, Pixies, The Smiths, Radiohead, Muse, Dandy Warhols, Franz Ferdinand, Depeche Mode, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Lily Allen, Keren Ann, The Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Robert Wyatt, Zita Swoon, Air, Saint Germain, Bach, Vivaldi, Rachmaninoff.

Favorite Movies

I have seen countless times: Neverending Story, Back to the Future, Big, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, The Goonies, Groundhog Day, Dirty Dancing, Spaceballs, Clueless, The Birdcage, 12 Monkeys, Donnie Darko, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Bridget Jones' Diary, Leaving Las Vegas, Lost in Translation, Requiem for a Dream

I really enjoyed: American Beauty, Willard, Boogie Nights, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Fifth Element, Living in Oblivion, America X, Big Lebowski, Brazil, The Machinist, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, The Godfather 1+2 (not 3), Batman Begins, About A Boy, Star Wars (all six), Happiness, Anything Monty Python, Coraline, The Squid and the Whale, District 9.

Favorite Television

I miss: Fringe, Friends, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Life on Mars, Dollhouse, Brothers and Sisters

I love: Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, IT Crowd, Downton Abbey, House, Mad Men, Gilmore Girls

My guilty pleasures: Project Runway, Top Chef, Top Design, American Idol.

Things I Read When I'm Blue

My favorite childhood books (I'm very nostalgic): A Wrinkle in Time, This Time of Darkness, The Planet of Tears, Behind the Attic Wall. Also calm me down: Stephen King books (go figure), The fountainhead, anything Douglas Adams

Things I Like

TURTLES!! Anything turtle related, especially miniatures, magnets...

ALL OTHER SWAPS: I love anything sea related and marine life in general. Clear blue water (with rays of light), just nature, sunny days, grass and trees and anything green, any landscape in general!; cats, turtles (yet again), owls, koalas, pandas, tigers and leopards. I love roller coasters,

Colors I currently love: teal, turquoise, red, violet, B&W checkered.

Anything handmade or creative, puffy or metallic stickers, short poems, small miniatures (people, animals, objects etc), small dolls (felt ones are lovely), things made of plaid fabrics, things made of felt, anything kawaii, colorful earrings, scarves, creative socks, bobby pins, shiny colorful eyeshadow, notebooks and sketchbooks; anything nostalgic from the 80's.

Teas, sweets! (chocolate, candy corn, chocolate chip cookies, oreo's, liquor filled chocolate candy, M&Ms).

THINGS I CAN"T GET AROUND HERE AND I WOULD LOVE: Composition books (with marble cover), the book "The Planet of Tears" (childhood book I've been dying to find), Cadbury Creme eggs, candy corn!

Things I don't Like

Toe socks, coriander, chocolate covered orange peels (I really don't get mixing chocolate with oranges or mint), licorice.

Favorite quotes

“The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny.” Albert Ellis

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." Carl Rogers

Comment: Thank you so much. Definitely the most unique package I've gotten. Thought there for a minute I had ice cream !! The big pine cone is beautiful. I'm going to display it but some place up high. My kitties love to play with things like that and if they can reach it --- it becomes theirs. Thoughts Of A Tree was very nice. I really liked the whole package. Thanks again.

Comment: So sorry, I thought I had rated you.It is a great story and I enjoyed reading it. In NZ we also have double graves where one is buried on top of the other. But it must be arranged when the first burial takes place as that one have to be done deeper. Usually they are in coffins in New Zealand as it is mainly a Christian country. In the coffin the body is placed face up. Thanks for sharing with me, cheers :-)
Response: Thanks for the rating and for the heart! It's interesting that this kind of burial is known in NZ, I've never heard of it before! Take care and have a great weekend :)

Comment: Thank you Miki! I really liked that you used "real photos" as opposed to ones printed on a printer, and I enjoyed the narrative on the back of each one. The recipe you sent reminds me of a Rigatoni al Forno recipe from Nigella Lawson. Very labor intensive, but DEFINITELY worth the time! Sounds delicious. I loved the ice cream stickers on the envelope, and the line at the end about my bf and I hiking off the calories was great. He tends to feel left out when I get into "swap mode," so I know he appreciated that comment. Thanks again!
Response: Thanks, I'm so glad you enjoyed the swap, recipe and photos! It was fun to make (and cook). I keep trying the tough recipes, practice makes perfect with them I guess...And thank you for the heart!

Hi Emily!

I was checking ratings for our Halloween Cupcake Toppers swap, and I noticed Behind the Attic Wall on your profile...one of my absolute FAVORITES!

I do hope you'll consider joining our Hundred Acre Wood group as well. Either way, so nice to meet another person who even knows what that books is.

Cheers,

Mimi

lol, I'm glad you didn't resist. They are fantastic. I was confused for a minute when I got them. I laid them all out and it was just a mess of letters and "say die never" then I facepalmed and was like wow.. how did I not get that right off the bat. lol. From that I got the goonies theme song stuck in my head... Which lead to watching The Goonies.. Thanks for the awesome day! lol.
