I am a 30 something wife and mother who works as a medical social worker. I have a ton of stress at work so when I get home I like to wind down with art! I live with two other artists and we support each other completely in our art!
I am super laid back and very positive. I think that is what makes me a good social worker. I can handle a crisis without breaking a sweat.
I love food. Which is why I am on Weight Watchers. I am addicted to Diet Coke and Reece's Peanut Butter Cups! I have no allergies but my son is allergic to peanut butter. He can be around it but not eat it. Thank goodness for that! I don't know how I would defeat my peanut butter cup habit! I also adore dark chocolate.
I am not a makeup kind of gal. I love natural. Except for my hair color. I haven't seen that since I was 16! I don't even own a tube of lip gloss but I do have a chapstick/lip balm habit! The extent of my girlyness is limited to candles and bath products :). I love sensual smells and really dislike "fake" food smells (example would be "Cookie" candles or Vanilla lotions).
My son (5) is the love of my life. He is super creative and loves to sit down and create with me. He is into animals and art. He loves to paint ceramics, make sticker pictures and glue anything! We go through adhesive like you wouldn't believe at this house!
My husband is also and artitist. He paints (watercolors),draws and makes websites.
We are the owners of two lovely ladies. Betsy is an 11 year old mutt who is currently very displeased with us. She was not happy that we brought her home a 14 week old long haird Dauchsand named Alice. I love "weiner dogs"!
When we are not inside creating we are outside in the yard. We love landscaping and nature walking. My son is into animals and love to make notes (journal) what animals he has seen.
I am also a journaling fool. I always have a journal with me. I have one for my "continual diet" and recipes and one for artistic inspirations that I see in everyday life. I also journal (not too personal) online on my blog. It is a way for my family to catch up on what we are up to. It is also a way for me to showcase what I have been working on.
Some of our other likes include Disney and the supernatural. We visit Disney every year. My spouse and I even did this prior to having a kid! We love how Disney makes you feel so young!
On the supernatural front we are believers in the unseen. We have never seen anything, not even in this old house that we restored. I would not go so far as to say I have psychic abilities. More like a fine tuned intuition! I love to study human nature. It comes in handy as a social worker. My husband always says that when I have a gut feeling about something he knows to listen!
It all started with scrapbooking. I was introduced by friends and have passed them up in the obsession department.
I love all maunfacturers that have a distressed look. If it looks new I am going to make it look old. I love vintage, old, antique, shabby, natural. I am really attracted to the victorian era and warm colors (rusts, browns, greens and golds). My spouse and I bought an old victorian and just finishing up restoring it. We love to make our own art out of item and colors from that era.
I also love texture! I have been known to use a variety of different textures on one page. I love fibers, ribbons, plastic canvas, felt, glass, mesh, foam, acrylic, metal and textured paint. I love homemade embellies that you create. The more handmade it is the more I love it! I will use anything once! I am not picky and can usually find a way to use a product. Sometimes more than one way after I get done altering it!
I love vintage embellies! Old laces, fabric, advertisements, buttons, and pictures really get my heart thumping! I have been known to bid on junk drawer lots on Ebay just to get one item!
As a scrapbooker I am always in need of pens, markers, card stock, ink pads, adhesive, brads, flowers, journal spots, ATC blanks and letter stickers.
Currenlty I am not watching too much TV. I like reality and documentry type tv. With a 5 year old around the house he has kind of comendeered the television. We watch a lot of cartoons! He is really into Pokemon. When he grows up he wants to be a Pokemon trainer :). I will let him live that 5 year old dream for awhile. Let him believe they are real! He is also into Webkinz! I have to admit they are a guilty pleasure of mine also :)
I listen to anything from Classical to HipHop. I love music but I am not drawn to one particular artist or type of music. I find inspiration in all types. My spouse and son are the same. I am getting ready to start piano lessons with my son. I used to play but have "regressed". I am super excited to relearn! I would love old lesson books for kids if you have any you want to unload!
We love history, biographies and historical fiction. I grew up on the Little House series and still love them. We also love books that educate, like field guides and old encyclopedias! My son can sit for hours and flip through an encyclopedia!
Another obsession is magazines! I love to flip through craft, homemaking and celebrity magazines. I end up ripping so much out of the magazine to paste in my journal that it rarely resembles a magazine when I am done!
Like all paper cardstock ribbons lace, trims and fabric rub ons chipboard American Crafts Thickers (it's an addiction really) butterflies piano music (relearning and DS is just learning) original artwork glitter mist children's books coloring books kids crafts advertisment/ephemera/ vintage or reproduced paranormal Pokemon Webkinz bubble gum journals vintage photos magazines (homemaking, craft, gossip) candles science and nature books kids school workbooks weiner dogs Pez Dispensers Christmas decor community or local cookbooks postcards magnets dark chocolate teas coffee cigar boxes diet coke (actually I call it Diet Crack!)
Dislikes fake food smells in lotions, candles etc, religious items, music (I have enough!), punches (I have more than enough), stamps (already have so many it is shameful).
Thanks for stopping by and learning about me! Email me if you have any questions!
