I am in my early 40s, married. I love crafting, reading (LOTS of reading)- especially mysteries, historical fiction and fantasy/ scifi.
I have 2 boys- both under the age of 3 who take up most of my time. They love trucks, trains, duplo and Pocoyo.
Beyond them, I teach history part time, play soccer, Irish step dance (when I can) and perform at renaissance festivals as a singer. I also do some preserving- jams, jellies, chutneys and butters. I've recently begun running again- working toward my first 10K.
Things I like:
My favorite colors are blues and grays, water tones. I love Autumnal colors, too- just can't wear them. :) Autumn and winter are my favorite seasons. I love cold weather and crisp days.
I love coffee and tea, scones and baked goodies.
I like Danish Modern style furnishings-clean lines- although my house only kind of looks like that.
Black and white photographs-especially of trees.
Wine and cheese.
Things I have to be careful of: Reading Martha Stewart magazines and deciding that I can make all those crafts myself! (I have the same problem with cookbooks.)
Things I'm not too fond of: neon. too much bling/ glitter. too much garlic. too many knick-knacks. "fussy" furniture or decoration.
No smoking here, but I do have cats, in case that is a concern for anyone.
I love crafting- especially paper and yarn. I scrapbook, make cards and knit.
I generally prefer natural fiber yarns- the big thing for me is how it feels in my hands. If I don't like touching it, I won't like knitting it. I like to knit different stitch patterns, socks, toys, scarves and shawls.
For paper crafts, I do a lot of stamping, stickers, layered shapes, etc. In scrapbooking, I lean more toward fitting more pictures on the page rather than one picture with a lot of decoration- but I still want my pages to look nice. I like both paper and digital scrapbooking- paper a bit more.
I like making holiday cards- it has become a tradition for me and a few of my friends to get together and do this. We share craft supplies and a cricut machine and then swap some cards with each other before we're done.
Pet Peeves in crafts: Scrapbooking- I don't like things that stick up off the page too much. I don't want to put something on the page that will dent the page above or below in and not allow the book to close well. Knitting- yarn that doesn't feel good. Dropping stitches.
I listen to a lot of celtic music (renaissance festivals and Irish dance) and get teased by my husband for covering my sons ears when the fire trucks went by with their sirens but lifting him up to see and hear the bagpipes better.
I love folk music, in general: PP&M, Dar Williams, The Smothers Brothers, etc.
Running music is important, too. If it has a good running beat, I like it.
Overall, I like music that has a story to it and doesn't hurt my ears.
I don't watch a lot of tv- but I like to record a number of shows so that I have something to watch when I feel the mood. Crime Dramas- Castle, CSI NY, Law and Order SVU
Cooking: Iron Chef, Top Chef
Guilty Pleasures: Project Runway, America's Next Top Model
Music: Glee, So you think you can dance.
