I love to read C. S. Lewis, Dorothy Sayers , Lauren Winner, Laurie Colwin and cooking magazines. Maybe that's why I'm fascinated by all the folks who prepare and photograph their bento meals. I love modern design with its clean lines and careful use of space. A trip to the thrift store is a treasure hunt. Current color choices are brown/pink, brown/ robin's egg blue, brown/green... Fabric designs by Amy Butler, Anna Maria and Heather Bailey are fresh. I prefer large floral prints, stripes, geometrics and 50's juvenile prints and 60's mod fabrics. I have plenty of calico fabric and polyester is not a favorite. I love to drink strong coffee and very black tea. Dark chocolate and more dark chocolate is fine too.
You can't go wrong with Mozart or anything Baroque.
Mostly Martha, Babette's Feast, Bride and Prejudice, Strictly Ballroom, You've Go Mail, LOTR
HGTV and Food Network, the Great British Bake off and the Great British Sewing Bee
Anything involving paper and fabric, quilting, collage, knitting, basket weaving, finding new ways to reuse materials-like coffee filters for book pages. I enjoy using vintage fabrics like barkcloth for bags. I like to find unusual embellishments for sewing projects: old cotton lace, buttons, ribbon and trim. I enjoy making retro-looking cards from old magazines and current scrapbook papers. I like geometric designs, natural shapes (leaves, trees,...) and different letter fonts for rubber stamping.
Peppermint chapstich, lavendar scented soap, travel size gold bond healing hand lotion, sugar-free gum in metal containers, peppermint scented body wash, stickers of all kinds, gel pens, funky pencils, small notebooks with fun covers, fat quaters of retro fabrics, buttons, hot chocolate, black tea, coffee(dark espresso)
