Description:

I've amassed quite a collection of vintage pillowcases and need to downsize!

In this swap, you will make ONE newly handcrafted half-apron for ONE partner. You must use a vintage pillowcase(s) as the main fabric. You may incorporate other fabric or trim for contrast/accent. Just google "pillowcase apron" for ideas or think up your own! You may check your partner's profile for her preferences but since this project is intended to utilize stuff we already own, it is ultimately the sender's choice as to style, color, etc.

Thrift stores are a wonderful source for vintage pillowcases if you don't already own any and still want to join this swap! Newbies are welcome with an informative, completed profile. Swappers with no-sends or other significant infractions will be banned. I will angel if necessary. Please post sizing info below or in your profile.

Hi all! I am a size L/XL.

CandyGirl 02/21/2009 #

Hey all, I'm in. I wear size 3/4.

ladydy5 02/22/2009 #

Wow, I will never see size 3/4 again.

its4donna 02/22/2009 #

ditto

veepower 02/23/2009 #

hello there, I am generally a Medium. I'm so excited about this, I have a great pillowcase I've been trying to find a use for.

grandmaroro 02/23/2009 #

I just can't resist. And ladydy5, I don't think I saw size 3/4 the first time. I weat medium bottoms and XL tops, so let's average and say large. I am a beginning collector of vintage aprons so this will fit right in. Thanks for a great swap idea its4donna.

grandmaroro 02/23/2009 #

geez- why don't I see the error BEFORE I hit leave comment!!!! That's w e a r medium.......

its4donna 02/23/2009 #

Your welcome, grandmaroro. I'd hoped to find others as interested as I am in mundane items such as pillowcases, LOL! But seriously, the vintage ones often have such pretty designs and, of course, some have beautiful hand-embroidery, too. Then there's the pillowcases from the 60's or 70's... so colorfully wild!

grandmaroro 02/24/2009 #

Uh-oh --- I never considered those 60's-70's ones. I'd hate to give up one of my embroidered ones for those. Well, I've got a week to think about this. Hmmmmmm.

its4donna 02/25/2009 #

Grandmaroro, you can specify (as you just have, really!) that you'd prefer a "pretty" one rather than a "groovey" one. No guarantee that your partner would use an embroidered one, though.

spuraway 02/27/2009 #

i'm in for a groovy one.. i've found a few white with embroidery.. hmm which to buy.. at the thrift store..

veepower 03/ 1/2009 #

Oh my, I'm all about the groovy! Ahem, so let's recap... Medium + Groovy. Wow, this is awesome.

commapolice 03/ 1/2009 #

Inspiring idea! I'd prefer groovy to frilly, if possible. I have a 28-inch waist.

Marmak 03/ 1/2009 #

I have a load of vintage pillowcases I was making them into capes for little girls but an apron is another great use. Can't wait to get started. I wear L/XL and would prefer Groovy.

its4donna 03/ 3/2009 #

Keep in mind, ladies... ultimately it IS sender's choice. Personally, I don't have any "groovy" pillowcases in my collection. If I'm assigned a partner who has that preference, I'll check my local thrift store but can't be guaranteed of finding one. I've got lot's of shabby chic, cottage style cases, though!

spuraway 03/ 6/2009 #

ohhh shabby chic is cool to.. but i'm sure any mail will be awesome mail.

mlookyloo1 03/ 6/2009 #

sound like fun

CandyGirl 03/ 8/2009 #

I will state a preference of shabby chic, embroidered, frilly, as opposed to groovy (not really my thing) however, if my partner has it in her heart and her sewing cabinet the pillowcase to make mine ultra groovy, than groovy it is, LOL And as for the size 3/4 with 5 children to chase after (4 at home) I don't have much choice but to stay busy and do a lot of running.

grandmaroro 03/ 9/2009 #

I am so sorry, I have to drop.

queensonia2001 03/10/2009 #

i'm a size medium.
