Happy New Year everyone. I can down with the Omicron variant around Christmas (despite being vaxxed and boosted) and am just recovering. If I somehow missed rating you, please message me and I will correct it right away!

Please be kind in your communications - I do my absolute best to send on time and to rate on time. Occasionally things get lost in the mail, or I run a day late, but I always reach out to my partners in the rare chance that happens. If you don't receive something from me, please let me know because I am always happy to resend!

I love crafting, art, camping, cooking, hiking, coffee, yoga and books! The types of crafts I enjoy are counted cross-stitch, I'm learning embroidery and slow-stitching, anything Cricut related, knitting, and I am desperately trying to learn how to sew, although I don't make enough time for it. Newest craft: improvisational quilting which I love!
My goals for this winter (again) are to actual try and sew every weekend and to re-learn the ukulele which I played in a choir as a kid (I grew up partially in Hawaii).
For cooking, I currently love my air fryer, my cast iron skillet and as a working mom, my crockpot is my bff. I love to try new things - especially with flavored vinegars and olive oils. I am less great at baking. I've been vegan and vegetarian in the past, but I do eat meat now, but have some great non-meat recipes to share. I'm not the biggest baker in the world - I prefer savory to sweet overall, but the occasional cookie/bread/pie is fun too, especially around the holidays.
I've spent the past 9 months trying to improve my drawing skills by doodling and/or sketching daily. I enjoy the work of Lisa Congdon a lot (and have taken some online classes with her), and my favorite supplies are Micron pens and colored pencils. Iโm learning to use gouache these days. I've also been experimenting a ton with mixed media and paper collage which has been a lot of fun! ATCs and smaller art are what I love doing the most.
It's all about coffee all of the time. I love tea too - I like most flavors of tea, bagged for mailing purposes and trying new and exotic flavors. I currently do not need any green teas.
I love music - particularly 80s-00s rock, some country, and 1980s/90s movies and TV shows. These bands run from REM, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Def Leppard, DMB to Billy Joel, Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, John Denver and The Monkees. I also love Demi Lovato, Tegan and Sara, Jess Glynne and Broadway shows such as Rent, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Les Mis & Hamilton, If/Then to name a few. Live music and concerts is one of my favorite pre-pandemic activities.
Things I love:
Animals that have special meaning to me are llamas, foxes, flamingos, and penguins.
Themes & patterns I love: Typewriters Pineapples Sunglasses Vintage 1960s-1970s patterns of any sort/Mid-century Bold geometrics Rainbows Camping Lunar and celestial
Other passions: Farmers' markets Overpurchasing craft/arts supplies Board, card and dice games 1960s/1970s vintage dรฉcor My 1855 farmhouse Yoga Peloton Cookbooks Distance Running Animal Rescue Jigsaw puzzles Anything that has my name spelled correctly (Elisabeth, although I typically go by Beth) Zines
I've never met a bookstore that I didn't like - and I typically have a stack of 8-10 books that I need to read. I usually read fiction, short story, memoir and YA. Some of my favorite books are Never Let Me Go, Elsewhere, The Diary of Anne Frank, Station Eleven, and Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I also love UK magazines such as Flow, Bella Grace & Daphne's Diary, and I spend entirely too much on subscribing to them.
I donโt get to watch a ton of TV and rarely movies with my work schedule but Iโve been enjoying binges of Younger, Upload, the Crown, Marvelโs Runaways, Money Heist Letterkenny and Schittโs Creek. I enjoy some reality TV like the Circle, Survivor and Below Deck!
Dedicated animal rescuer to two pitbull mixes and 8 cats, queer lesbian-identifying single parent to 3 amazing tween, teen & young adult humans, pre-pandemic world traveler to 37 states and over 20 countries & excited to send and receive real mail! I work in the healthcare field and higher education - both of which are extremely stressful and crafting, letter writing and books are the way that I try and practice self-care.
I just finished a 300 hour yoga teacher certification and am spending a lot of my free time depending my understanding of meditation, pranayama, Ayurvedic and asana.
Swap Likes (anything listed above plus): Themes: anything animal, food, book, music, travel, ๐ณ๏ธโ๐ related, related to Hawaiian or Swiss culture (2 of my cultural homes). Brightly Patterned & bold paper ATCs Washi Tape Stickers - all sizes and most themes, except infant/toddler/school/reward oriented/Disney/planner Folded Notecards w/Envelopes Stationary Ribbon Mid-century design Modern art (Pollack, Rothko, Haring etc.) Tea (except chamomile), instant flavored coffees Mini-books Pens Anything with thoughtful quotes Craft-related Yoga-related
For writing/poetry I donโt mind dark themes, dirty limericks, innuendo, farce or cursing! (With COVID-19 trying time avoid anything pandemic related). Not a huge fan of horror/gore.
Food issues: I recently had an allergic reaction and have to avoid mushrooms for the time being, so no recipes including those for now - sorry!
Dislikes: Anything related to animal cruelty, guns, significant gore/horror, proselytizing in anyway, random little bits of paper, playing cards, clowns, glitter, confetti
Right now, my favorite swaps focus on Zines, ATCs, flash fiction, cooking, reading, letter writing and anything else that inspires creativity and community.
