Response: I posted a few pitcher photos to my Instagram (oreotalpa) recently, since they were blooming and I impulse-purchased a new baby recently! Mine are domestic hybrid Sarracenia - related to your wild ones, but I've never been lucky enough to see Sarracenia in the wild. Someday, perhaps...(with a lot of bug spray). They're really wonderful plants to keep, very easy and rewarding. The Sourlands look amazing - gotta add them to my bucket list!
Response: I think I found a packet of them in a thrift store a few years ago and snapped them up because I love Utah's parks so much!
Response: It's pretty good, although I am aiming to replace some of the invasive plants (so much English ivy) with native plants, or at least plants that provide more wildlife food. But there is a lot of activity out there!
Response: So glad you like it! One of those ideas that grabbed me and wouldn't let go until I tried it.
Response: You're very welcome! It was a really interesting place to visit.
Response: Yay, glad you liked them! There are a lot of botanical illustrators teaching online classes in Europe (more than in North America, honestly), so you might be able to find a similar workshop if you look around.
Response: I definitely miss searching for vintage paper goods! Someday again...
Response: You're very welcome! Glad you liked them.
Response: I like those, too - so many people on Postcrossing only want cards from your country, so it's nice to be able to sign up for swaps where I can send out all my leftover tourist PCs!
Response: Great, I'm so glad you like it!
Response: They are perhaps not the weirdest fish, but they're definitely weird fish! I basically lost my entire mind when I unexpectedly saw them in the wild. Glad you liked the ATC!
Response: I'm so glad you like it!
Response: Aww, man, I love using vintage stamps but it's even more depressing when the post office obliterates them. Glad you still enjoyed the comments!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You are very welcome! Glad you liked everything. :)
Response: Utah has some amazing parks, but so do Arizona and the Dakotas (I still haven't made it to Florida or Alaska...or many others). Lots of great places to see.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Thank you! Holly is honestly my favorite piece of art I've ever done - I'm 100% happy with her. Got to credit her for being such an inspiring subject! Stampeaz has some blocks I haven't tried yet, so perhaps I'll put in an order from them after I work through my current materials.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: I admit I still haven't tried the homemade tea yet, haha. I suppose I should do that. The crow has definitely become a regular visitor - I think today he brought a young one, but it flew off when I tried to get a good look! I guess some people think crows are a nuisance, but so far I feel they've been very polite.
Response: Awesome, you're very welcome!
Response: Birds are wonderful! I have done so much backyard birdwatching this last year and it's really helped a lot (plus good for eyes to look at birds and not just computer, haha!).
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Yay, glad you liked everything! :-)
Response: I pretty much just think of it as doing collage when I'm too lazy to get out the glue. :-) Stickers are fun either way, though!
Response: Cheers, glad you liked it!
Response: Thanks, glad you liked it!
Response: So glad they arrived okay, and sorry again about my misreading of the swap description the first time!
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Glad you liked it! It is such a cool technique...I went a little nuts making tree trunks when I learned it.
Response: Glad it made it!
Response: Indeed! I'm sorry to say that the Vader stamp is from a 2007 Star Wars set I still have a couple partial sheets of, but if one keeps an eye out it's possible to get older stamps for face value or less (I'll send you a message about some local possibilities). They're only 41c so you have to add another 14c to get to an oz. It looks like we have another Star Wars issue (droids!!) coming out in May, though!
Response: Glad you liked them! I admit, every time I see the phrase "sticker slapping" I take it as a personal dare, haha. It's just collage with the glue already built in. 😂
Response: I was originally disappointed the color theory class was in colored pencil, but I was definitely pleasantly shocked how much I learned drawing random boring household objects and shaded spheres in a medium I don't love. It really changes the mindset! Now I just have to figure out how to actually apply what I learned to subjects I AM invested in...
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Yay, I'm glad it arrived safely!
Response: Glad you liked it! Bird feeders are especially nice to have right now...
Response: Did you copy/paste something here by mistake? I don't recognize that other swap...
Response: It's a nice quick way to do moody landscapes! (They know they are, haha.)
Response: Fingers crossed!
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Everyone has a different style! I'm sure the original sender will love all of it.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Yay, I'm so glad you liked everything!
Response: Glad you liked them!
Response: I usually work on weekends, so I guess I'm used to it at this point (what do weekends even mean these days?). Glad you liked the card - I made it in a class at a local shop back in the Before Times.
Response: Mine too (well, one of them - it's hard to believe they're about the same age) - but they are worth it. <3
Response: You're very welcome! I'm really glad you like the octopus stamp - I bought that set on impulse and used it a couple times, but it wasn't getting enough use here. Happy crafting!
Response: You're very welcome! Glad you like them. I am trying to actually use my stash more instead of just hoarding it for decades, haha.
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: You're welcome! I am glad you liked it.
Response: Glad you liked it! Vintage notepaper has such a special feel to it.
Response: Thanks! Your pets sound delightful.
Response: They have many nicknames, mostly ridiculous ones. :-)
Response: The social structures are complex and ever-shifting, but I guess we are always the providers of food and laps!
Response: Glad you liked them! Some of them were by other people (should be signed on the back) because I wanted to include a variety!
Response: You're very welcome! Your dogs sound adorable. :-)
Response: Cheers, you are very welcome!
Response: I have seen the Bao, but it's more than I can bring myself to spend on a stationery bag...neat, though! I ended up with four cheap Stickii-sized binders and I'm a little alarmed by how many stickers I have, haha! Thank you for your nice comments on my watercolor - I am still learning so much!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for being so patient about the resend.
Response: Yay, I'm glad you like it!
Response: You're very welcome! The washi with backing seems to have started showing up fairly recently - on AliExpress it's usually called "special ink" washi - I'm not sure what Etsy sellers call it. It is a lot easier to cut things out of than regular superwide washi!
Response: Vintage Dennison labels have become kind of a hot commodity! I have only found a few that weren't overpriced - they're so expensive on Etsy and Ebay. I think the company (now Avery) could make some money by producing some nostalgic gummed labels! I'm kind of surprised it's not easier to find modern versions. I'm working on a surprise for your next letter! :-)
Response: You're so welcome! <3
Response: Yay, I'm glad! It was fun trying out a different style.
Response: You're very welcome.
Response: Glad you like the washi. The bats are amazing - hope you can see some someday! I'm sure there are fruit bats closer than Australia.
Response: Tiny tiny scissors. :-) It's kind of mentally soothing.
Response: Glad you liked them!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Gummed seals, I guess? Before pressure-sensitive ones were invented. I thought they were fun!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Yay, looking forward to it!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're very welcome! I guess it's practice - just so hard to squeeze out the time to sketch.
Response: I'm so excited for the Blue Mountains and wombats - you have no idea! I have been told they are very loud at the campground and we won't get much sleep, but I don't care. I'm sure the whole trip will be awesome.
Response: You're very welcome! I hope you can get them off the backing. :-) I made them because I couldn't find any carnivorous plant stickers I liked - I guess it's a niche market.
Response: You're welcome! It was interesting to try embossing - I definitely want to experiment with it more!
Response: I'm so glad you liked it! I'm pretty swamped right now, but if things get less busy in the future I will drop you a message. :-)
Response: Aww, bummer - thanks for letting me know! Hope it didn't mess up any of the stamps!
Response: You're very welcome! Of course I found the peony postcard right after I sent...
Response: I'm really glad you liked them! Thanks again for hosting. :-)
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Oh, I have painted before (although I'm not great) - the leaf printing was the new technique! I'm glad you liked it. It's really fun to play with.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Yay, glad you liked it! I got the washI stickers/tape sticker roll from a seller on AliExpress.
Response: Glad you liked it! All things considered, the fire damage wasn't as bad as people feared and it will probably be good for the ecology long-term, but...it's hard to take that much change on an immediate human scale. At least there are still many other nice hiking areas open.
Response: Thanks, glad you liked it!
Response: Cheers! Wish I had dragonflies in my yard. :-)
Response: You're very welcome! It was super fun to put together.
Response: It is one of the most incredible experiences I've had! Absolutely mesmerizing (literally) - it's honestly a little alarming how not nervous one can feel next to molten lava. Kilauea is one of the more approachable eruptions on our planet, but all kinds of unpredictable things can still happen. I am very glad I did the hike, though.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: It's great here! So much beautiful country.
Response: Yay, it arrived! I do try to match profiles when I can. Thanks for the swap - super fun, happy to swap with you any time!
Response: Phew, so glad it arrived safe and you liked it! It was a fun challenge.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're very welcome! Glad they arrived safely.
Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Response: Glad it arrived safely!
Response: Thanks! I think they're a ways out still...
Response: Glad you like them - hope you have fun playing with them. :-)
Response: You're very welcome! Fussy cutting is my destressing of choice right now, so I have an ever-growing pile of cut-out bits... :-)
Response: Heh, um, very tiny embroidery scissors and a compulsive nature? I have a massive pile of field guide and dictionary cutouts (more than I can ever use) now due to it being my destress method of choice at the moment. I think that one was from a kid's dictionary. Hope you have fun!
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: So glad it arrived safely and you like it! It was super fun to make.
Response: Glad you liked it! :-) I think I just have a good washi tape collection - it's an easy technique and really fun.
Response: You're welcome! Snakes mostly want to get away, so you're probably fine as long as you flip logs and trash can lids away from you - but it does sound startling (and a good excuse not to weed)! The weeds are an eternal battle....
Response: They're all dinosaurs! I love swallows, though - such amazing fliers.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Glad you like it!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: I think I'm addicted now! It's like a nature scavenger hunt, or collecting trading cards or something. :D
Response: You're very welcome! Glad you liked everything. :-)
Response: You're very welcome! I've been finding cutting things out soothing lately, so I'm happy to spread around the results of my compulsiveness.
Response: I'm super glad you liked it! I really love putting together little packages of repurposed ephemera. I had to have my mom mail it since I was going out of town, but I'd underestimated postage and my nice local postal clerk carefully selected additional thematic stamps. I thought you might like the unused ones, also. :-) I found a man selling off his collection on Craigslist a while back and was able to stock up on some amazing vintage postage!
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked them!
Response: Haha, yes, book art has been a bit of a struggle for me...but I mostly go for damaged or battered books that I get super cheap, like at library sales. I figure it's better than pulping! Sometimes I get a book and then decide I can't bear to cut it up, though. I'm glad you liked the packagelet! I'd be happy to swap handmade stickers sometime.
Response: Thanks! They were fun to make, but more time-consuming, so I think I'll save that technique for other uses in the future.
Response: You're welcome! The habitat scene stamps were such a great series, probably my favorite the USPS has put out.
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked it! I was fun to try out a different style.
Response: You're very welcome! I like to include extras when I think I have something someone will like. :-) These swaps push me to actually do art, and ATCs are nice and small so they're not really intimidating.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Cheers, glad it arrived safely!
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked the envies and the note! :-) Malaysia is definitely on my list.
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked them!
Response: MUWAHAHAHA!
er.
I mean...
...you're welcome. (Seriously, it's a fun obsession, and at least for me sidesteps the problem with storebought stickers where I can never bring myself to USE my favorites. And once my life settles down I'd be happy to do a private swap for more if you want - I did a huge handmade sticker swap earlier this year but my partner dropped off the face of the planet without sending, so after I have time to rebuild the stash I'd be up for trying again with someone else.)
Response: Phew, I'm so relieved it made it and you liked it. :-) I tried to capture some of my favorite things about the coast - heading out there this weekend!
Response: Yay, I'm glad it finally arrived and you liked it!
Response: You're very welcome! I think my favorite things to make envelopes out of are found papers, like sheet music and maps.
Response: You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it.
Response: Thank you - I'm glad it arrived safely!
Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I need to make time to do a few sketchbook pages to noodle around...kind of overwhelming inspiration!
Response: Glad you liked the stamps - it's great to be able to use some of my topical stamp horde. (I think astronomical photography is maybe technically better now, but it's awfully impressive what they pulled off pre-digital.)
Response: Glad you liked them!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're welcome! They are very charming animals.
Response: You're welcome! I often find fortune cookies arrive at the right time, haha.
Response: Dou itashimashite! I'm glad you liked it!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked it! It didn't come out quite the way I wanted, but that's always how it goes. Glad you enjoyed the postage - I scored a bunch of great mint postage off Craigslist last fall and it's nice to share. :-)
Response: I am often glad we don't live in the 30s - that's awful.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're so welcome - I'm glad you liked the stamps!
Response: Unseasonably warm and seasonably rainy! Not the most picturesque time of year, haha... (did the washi collage on the envelope hold up okay? I slapped on a coat of ModPodge for durability).
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Glad you like them!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Response: Thank you - me too!
Response: Thanks! Happy new year! :-)
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're welcome - glad you liked it!
Response: You're very welcome! Happy New Year!
Response: Yay, I'm glad! I love marine life, too. :-)
Response: You're very welcome! I'm glad you could identify the planet, haha. Have a great holiday!
Response: I'm glad you liked it! I hope the paint samples are fun. :-)
Response: I know, I just like sending postcards!
Response: Phew, I've been worried about it surviving the mail since I dropped it in the box! I'm so glad you like it - thank you for the kind words!
Response: Thank you - honestly, my technique is so-so, but Versafine ink is magical. I hope you enjoy Spin State - I'm not quite done yet.
Response: It's pretty nice (or at least parts of it are), and close to nature, although it can be tough to get to it without a car. Not many bears, though! There are some good schools here.
Response: I'm glad you liked the envelope (I...sort of remember what I did, maybe) - I've been trying to experiment lately with fun but easy ways of decorating them.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Thank you so much! I love fall, too - colors and all the nice fog, although I'm bad at getting up early for it.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Thanks for the rating! Hope you had a good month.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Glad you liked them!
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: Thanks so much! Looking forward to it. :-)
Response: It's a good place to visit!
Response: Thank you! Glad you liked them.
Response: Nice! It certainly made a big impression on me as a kid.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: I'm glad I had a panda card. :-) Glad you liked it!
Response: Glad you liked it! I still plan to try again, though. :-)
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Glad you liked them!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're so welcome! I just got a beautiful postcard from you today. :-)
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Yay! No worries if it takes longer, of course (I'm looking at a pile of work and mail to catch up on after being sick...life happens).
Response: It is a very cute sound! Some owls just sound silly, but this one has a cute call. Glad you liked the stamps!
Response: Well, I wouldn't say I "know" it, but I could get by okay most of the time. :-) Living there for a while helped a lot, so now I just need to find a way to live in Germany so I can learn German!
Response: I'm so glad you like it! I have been using ATCs to try out new-to-me techniques and styles, so it's a little scary!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: So glad you liked it! I guess Norway got most of the waterfalls in the region. :-)
Response: I'm glad you liked it! I love looking for odd stationery treasures.
Response: You're welcome! I hope you don't have too much trouble using them.
Response: Haha, I don't think my cats would do well with any kind of dog. Winnie sounds cute, though!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Yay, I'm so glad you both liked them!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: You're welcome! Picking out stamps for the envelope is actually one of my favorite parts of swapping.
Response: I'm glad you liked the stamps! I just got them recently and they seemed perfect for you from your profile. :-)
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: I'm so glad you liked the stamp! :-) Cheers!
Response: You're welcome - glad you liked it!
Response: Did the postcard survive the mailing process okay? I'm still figuring out method, so any feedback is helpful.
I'm so envious you got to snorkel with whale sharks! They are so amazing, but I imagine the sheer size is intimidating. White-tipped reef sharks are pretty safe to be around, but I still had that moment of primal fear.
Response: I'm so glad you like it! It was a little scary to attempt but I was pleased with how it came out.
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: I'm so glad you like them!
Response: I'm always excited to find fellow bug fans! :-) Maybe over-excited, but I have to do something with all my insect stationery...
Response: Glad you liked it!
Response: You're welcome!
Response: I'm glad you like them! :-)
Response: Yay, glad I could send you some new ones! :-)
Response: Yay, I'm glad I found a different one!
Response: Glad you liked it! I'm looking forward to rain clearing up the air...
Response: I have no idea what I'm doing, so maybe I did it wrong. I'm sure you did fine! Glad you liked them. :-)
Response: You're very welcome (although now I don't remember what I sent...)!
Response: So glad you liked it! I have a lot of older stamps, so I'm excited when I get to send a state one to the right state. :-)
Response: I'm so glad you liked the items! Sunprinting is incredibly fun - I just got a little $7 kit with the small squares of paper to experiment small scale, but I have dreams of doing a cotton scarf if I can figure out how to get a big enough sheet of non-UV-blocking acrylic or glass.
Response: Glad you liked it! I was really happy with how the octopus came out. :-)
Response: You're very welcome!
Response: Glad you liked it! I was thinking I should reread them myself...I forgot how fun they were.
Response: You're welcome!
Response: Thank you - it was really fun and we visited some great tidepools.
