March 7th, 2015----I have decided to do a few swaps. I don't want to have my account put inactive. Since the below note, I have been dealing with the medical and dental issues. Hopefully I will done with the dentist soon. I will be very glad to see spring arrive. We have had just too much snow here on the east coast. It will be good to see the spring flowers come up thru the ground. Happy swapping everyone.
August 16, 2014-----Just a note to let everyone know that I am taking a break from swapping for awhile. I sit down at the computer and check my emails and my swaps, do my swaps and I am finding out that I don't get any sewing done. I have a huge fabric stash with many, many plans in my head for projects and I never seem to get to them. So for the next few months, most likely until after Christmas, sewing will be my main focus. Hope to see all of you back here in 2015. (Just a post-script, I will also be having surgery in the next few weeks and am not sure of the recuperation time.)
My name is Linda and I am a retired grandmother to 5 girls(19, 2-16 yr olds, 14 and 13) and one boy(13). My spouse loves covered bridges so we do travel around the states so he can take pictures of them, which is his passion. I have two children, a son and daughter and a wonderful daughter-in-law and son-in-law. My daughter is a great scrap-booker & card maker. She is the one who told me about swapbot. So here I am to try it out. It will be fun to exchange swaps with people around the world.
I enjoy sewing (not clothes though). I have become very interested in quilting which is where my passion is right now as well as making curtains and other things for my home.
I have recently had my interest in paper crafts resurface due to swap bot. I just finished making some ATCs and realized that I am lacking in some of the things that would make them even more special. I will have to start slowly and add some of those items (or go to my daughter's and use hers!!!! she has been a scrapbooker for close to 15 years so she has a very good stash of stuff) It was a great creative challenge.
I am always thinking of new ideas of things to do but there is never enough time to get it all done. I see a design idea but try to think out of the box and how I would change it to be my own style. I have been taking many online classes on Craftsy. It is a great way to learn many techniques and hints for quilting and for many other things.
I am greatly looking forward to swaps and meeting new people.
NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, The Chew, Rachel Ray, Good Morning America, White Collar,Covert Affairs, Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, Burn Notice, Suits, Castle, Downton Abbey, Scandal, The Good Wife and most prime time CBS shows. I just love BBC mini-series, especially anything taking place from late 1800"'s to early 1900's. I used to watch Guiding Light for many, many years until it went off the air. I so missed watching a soap that about 2 months ago decided to start watching General Hospital as it is on right after another show (The Chew) so it was just easy to not change the channel. I have my TV on all the time. I do many things while I watch(really just listen), never do I just sit and look at the TV.
Almost anything but horror/thriller movies. All Fast and Furious...RIP Paul Walker, all Meryl Streep movies, Dwayne Johnson movies, White House Down, Lincoln with Daniel Day Lewis, Avenger movies, Olympus has Fallen, Identity Theft, Gravity, The Notebook, Madea movies by Tyler Perry, The Book Thief, all Iron Man movies, Saving Mr. Banks, Les Miserables, all Raiders movies, Sound of Music, and many, many others. These are just some of what I could think of.
My favorite colors are blue and yellow. Batiks and country prints are also my favorites. I also like Americana items(in the antique {or tea-dyed look} red, tan(beige) & blue) and have my family room in that theme. I also like country decorating and many of the primitive items. Just love old country crocks and furniture that shows the age on it. I am currently purchasing fabrics to do a quilt for my bed, it will be in medium to dark blue and cream. I made drapes and a valance for the room already.
I am into using all the pre-cuts (charm packs, jelly rolls, layer cakes, etc.) that are available now in the quilting market. I like to follow patterns but usually will put my own spin into it but many times look at the pattern and then do my own thing. There are many ideas floating around in my head and not enough time to do them all. I have learned alot from Craftsy classes and also the Youtube tutorials by Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt. As of today 4/2/14 there are 222 videos from her with all different techniques and quick quilt blocks as well as many other items: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=missouri+star+quilt+company+tutorials
I am a non-smoker so would prefer items from a smoke free environment.
Food allergies: shrimp (I wish I could eat it as I used to so still will crave the taste of it, especially when my spouse is eating it)
I also cannot wear any jewelry but 14kt. (All the others make me get a skin irritation)
Food restrictions: caffeine (only drink decaf tea or coffee)
PLEASE NO PET HAIR ON MY SWAPS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS FABRIC!!
I read alot of Amish Christian fiction. Some of my favorite authors are Wanda Brunstetter, Beverly Lewis, Amy Clipston, Karen Vogel. I also like Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, Nicolas Sparks I love to read when I am not quilting/sewing. I do most of my reading on my Kindle. I also enjoy games on my kindle.
