Response: Thank you! No - I can't draw. It's possible it was a stamped image. I'm glad you liked it. Happy Halloween!
Response: Thank you, Chris. I put the matching envelope in the mail a couple of days ago. Hopefully it will reach you soon.
Thanks, Judy
Response: Chris: I'm so glad you liked it! I need more practice with making shakers. Judy
Response: Hi Chrissie:
Yes I really have made 951 ATCs (but it has taken several years). I think I used collage sheets for those ATC backs - just trying some different things here and there. I'm glad you liked it.
Judy
Response: Katgal - Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! These letters at the end of the alphabet are challenging, aren't they? Judy
Response: Hi Anita - Thank you for your lovely comments. That image is supposed to be Nosferatu (the original vampire). If you have ever seen the old silent movie Nosferatu - it is chillingly scary. Very atmospheric, and the vampire rises up from his coffin straight without bending his body. It's terrifying! Judy
Response: I made the face out of air dry clay. That was the handmade element.
Response: SKK: I think that was a stamp. I wanted to do something that showed continuation from one card to the other. I'm glad you liked it!
Judy
Response: BusyB: I would love to get together and share some inspiration! At the moment I'm out of town until Memorial Day, but let's get together after that. I have not heard of any stamp groups except for the ones Joyce Kurtz holds at The Peddlers Pack in Beaverton. Judy
Response: sammie91: I'm sorry, I have forgotten which one I sent to whom. Can you remind me please? I'll be happy to give you more details. thanks - Judy
Response: I used tissue paper on the book covers. Wish I always had a never-ending supply of printed tissue ... Thanks so much for your encouraging words! Ha! I don't teach classes . . . (are you serious?) Funny how we are always our own worst critics. Your complimentary remarks mean so much to me. Thank you. (You're in Gresham, right? Maybe we can get together and make some ART sometime)
Judy
Response: I'm sorry to hear that ... I can't believe how cavalier the post office is getting with our mail (esp considering what they charge us to mail it!). I hope your ATC wasn't damaged as a result.
Response: I'm sorry to hear that ... that's the first time I've heard of that happening with any ATC I've mailed. I can't help but think that the contents befouled the USPS machinery - or someone opened it purposely to see what was inside. The envelope wasn't heavy-duty, but I've mailed hundreds just like it and never had a problem. I hope your ATC wasn't damaged as a result.
Response: Thank you so much for your complimentary remarks! Yes - I started with canvas paper, which I just love as a backing. I applied paint and/or glaze, then torn dictionary pages and tissue paper (applied with gel medium). After drying, I stamped that with black acrylic paint and rubber stamps. I'm so glad you liked it - it was a new background technique for me. Judy
Response: eepy - I loved your profile and loved your rating comment. True, I have made a few ATCs (I think I'm up to 800+) but this was a brand new background technique for me! I got carried away with the paint and the glaze and was feeling very arty while in the throes of creation. I would have included 3D embellishments except for the international mailing . . . glad you liked it! Judy
Response: Molly,
Thanks for your kind words. I started out with canvas paper, and applied a couple of different colors acrylic paint and/or glaze. Then I collaged dictionary pages and colored tissue paper, then stamped over that with black acrylic paint. Glad to hear you liked it!
Response: Thank you so much! That tiny little alphabet set is called Buttons Alphabet Set and is made by PSX. Not sure where I got them - but because of their tiny size, I like using them on ATCs.
Response: I'm not sure if you're referring to the fused fibers or the ultra-thick embossing powder glaze. Let me know which one you received and I'll be happy to share the technique.
Response: Thanks for asking. I should have called it air-dry clay. I had the flu for about three weeks before these ATCs went out, so I was demented. One of the three brands you can buy is called Creative Paperclay, so maybe I wasn't too far off base. It comes in a brick and you can pull off pieces and save the rest, but your wrapping must be air-tight. It dries in 24 hours. You can stamp on it, shape it, roll it, flatten it, and after drying it can be painted, chalked, sprayed, whatever. The brand I used is called Delight, as it's very lightweight. This was an experiment more than anything . . . I'm glad so many people liked it.
Response: Thanks for your kind words. That ATC was made using a fused fiber technique that I got from Bernie Berlin's ATC Workshop book. You make a nest of various fibers over fusible webbing, and add embossing powder and more webbing on top, then iron it (under a heat-resistant craft sheet). Each one was unique. Glad you liked it!

Response: Sam: I'm so glad you liked it! I dislike getting non-useful stuff, so I do try to send a well-stuffed package.
Happy creating!
Judy
Response: Cindy - sorry to be so tardy in responding. That Egyptian paper I found in a little shop about 6 or 7 years ago that has since closed down. I've never seen it anywhere else, and I have been hoarding the one roll I have forever. I use it very sparingly. Thanks for asking. Judy
Response: Hi Deb,
I'm not remembering which backs I used for this swap. Some are stamps - like the pointing hand and the intricate borders. The others ones I have made myself using graphics and text boxes. Thanks for noticing!
Response: Patti - Thank you for your marvelous compliment! You have put a huge silly grin on my face. The nicest thing you could possibly say is, "I hope you get my name next swap." That was so cool. I'm so glad you liked my little guys. I really enjoy making them. Thanks again.
-Judy
Response: Jenny - Thanks so much for your positive words! You made my day. I know we have swapped before but can't remember which swap. The paper lace is German scrap and comes in different colors. It comes from Art Chix Studio - tell Helga that Judy sent ya. LOVE your style, proud to be in your collection.
-Judy
Response: Nancy,
Thanks for your kind words! Each image is from different vendors - the swamp is from Paradise Post, the cattails are from Stamps Galore, and King Frog is an unknown UM I was given somewhere, can't remember. I'm glad you liked it!
Judy
Response: Sandra,
I am so happy you liked it! I do like to personalize this type of package however I can. I have the ATC booklet myself and use it all the time. Enjoy!
Judy
Response: I am so glad you liked it. I thought it was kind of kitschy, but it's the sort of thing that you love or hate. The dollar store is one of my fave places...hard to believe what you can find for a dollar. I'm so pleased you liked your stuff!
